Abstract The short-term influence of particles with an aerodynamic diameter ≤ 2.5 µm (PM2.5) and its individual elements on hospital costs, the length stay (LOS), admissions caused by type 2 diabetes remains unclear. A generalized additive model (GAM) was utilized to assess association these indicators for every 10 µg/m3 rise in PM2.5 components. For components, a lag time 0 days, there significant increase daily LOS diabetes. three increased approximately linearly organic matter (OM) concentration at all concentrations tested while they specific range other components concentrations. These findings suggested that exposure elevated levels as well risk LOS, due

The short-term influence of particles with an aerodynamic diameter ≤2.5 μm (PM2.5) and its individual elements on hospital costs, the length stay (LOS), admissions caused by type 2 diabetes remains unclear. A generalized additive model (GAM) quasi-Poisson distribution was utilized to assess association pollutants mixtures. For every 10 μg/m3 rise in PM2.5 a per-SD increase NH4+at lag0, increased 0.93% (95% CI: 0.68, 1.19) 2.81% 2.20, 3.42); costs rose 24.58 thousands CNY 5.95, 43.22) 77.06 33.07, 121.04); LOS 9.53 days 0.44, 18.62) 27.80 6.34, 49.27), respectively. Factor analysis showed that mixed-source particulate pollution significantly associated (0.27%, 95% (0.20, 0.34)), (2.87 days, (0.35, 5.40)), (71.68 CNY, (19.89,123.46)). These findings suggested exposure elevated levels as well components risk LOS, due diabetes.

What is already known on this topic? Exposure to fine particulate matter (PM2.5) was linked endocrine hormone disruption in the reproductive system. Nonetheless, it unclear which specific components of PM2.5 were primarily responsible for these associations. added by report? The study presented initial epidemiological evidence that brief exposure can elevate estradiol levels postmenopausal women. Various particle had unique effects, with water-soluble ions and inorganic elements like Ag, As, Cd, Hg, Ni, Sb, Se, Sn, Tl potentially playing significant roles increasing levels. are implications public health practice? established prevalence air pollution, along its components, has been recognized as a novel risk factor affecting balance sex hormones.

There is limited evidence linking exposure to ambient particulate matter (PM) with internal doses of metals and metalloids (metal(loid)s). This study aimed evaluate the effects short-term PM on urine metal(loid)s among Chinese older adults. Biological monitoring data 15 collected in 3, 970 community-dwelling adults Fuyang city, Anhui Province, China, from July September 2018, were utilized. PMs an aerodynamic diameter ≤ 1 µm (PM1), 2.5 (PM2.5), 10 (PM10) up eight days before collection estimated by space-time extremely randomized trees (STET) model. Residential greenness was reflected Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). We used generalized additive model (GAM) combined distributed lag linear/non-linear models (DLMs/DLNMs) estimate associations between metal(loid)s. The results suggested that cumulative exposures PM1, PM2.5, or PM10 over two (lag0-1 days) associated elevated DLMs, while exhibited linear "inverted U-shaped" relationships seven DLNMs, including Gallium (Ga), Arsenic (As), Aluminum (Al), Magnesium (Mg), Calcium (Ca), Uranium (U), Barium (Ba). Aforementioned indicated robust rather than spurious these After standardizations for three PMs, PM1 greatest contributor U, PM2.5 made contributions Ga, As, Al, Ba, contributed most Mg Ca. Furthermore, Mg, Ca, Ba reduced when exposed higher levels NDVI. Overall, contribute urinary metal(loid) adults, exhibit various different Moreover, residential may attenuate
