The extensive use of plastic materials and their improper disposal results in high amounts waste the environment. Aging plastics leads to breakdown into smaller particles, such as microplastics (MPs) nanoplastics. This research investigates used agricultural practices they contribute MP pollution soils. distribution characteristics MPs soils were evaluated. In addition, effect on soil properties, relationship between metals soil, fate pesticides influence plant growth analysed, discussing legume, cereal vegetable crops. Finally, a brief description main methods chemical analysis identification is presented. study will better understanding soil-plant system. changes induced by parameters can lead potential benefits it possible increase availability micronutrients reduce uptake toxic elements. Furthermore, although remains an emerging threat ecosystems, presence may result soils, highlighting principles circular economy.

The presence of microplastics in food poses a significant concern due to its potential impact on human health. Numerous studies have focused spectroscopic techniques identify and confirm those contaminants food, but less attention has been paid chromatographic techniques. Thus, this article provides comprehensive review the recent applications analysis related compounds such as bisphenols phthalate esters from 2018 2022. study covers discusses range different (gas liquid chromatography). Furthermore, also explores sample treatments employed for extracting these matrices, while offering detailed their principles, advantages, disadvantages. This readers with an overview valuable insights into analytical performance food.

The diffusion of microplastics in the food supply chain is prompting public concern as their impact on human health still largely unknown. aim this study was to qualitatively and quantitatively characterize skim-milk powder samples (n = 16) from different European countries 8) through Fourier-transform infrared microspectroscopy attenuated total reflectance mode analysis. present highlights that use hot alkaline digestion has enabled efficacious identification powders used for cheesemaking across countries. adopted protocol allowed detection 29 types polymeric matrices a 536 plastic particles. most abundant were polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene, polyethylene terephthalate. Microplastics found 3 shapes (fiber, sphere, irregular fragments) 6 colors (black, blue, brown, fuchsia, green, gray). Results demonstrate presence all samples, suggesting general contamination. will help evaluate intake health.

Nanoplastic particles are emerging as an important class of environmental pollutants in the atmosphere that have adverse effects on our ecosystems and human health. While many methods been developed to quantitatively detect nanoplastics; however, sensitive detection at low concentrations a complex environment remains elusive. Herein, we demonstrate greener method fabricate surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) substrate consisting self-assembled plasmonic Ag–Au bimetallic nanoparticle (NP) films for quantitative SERS nanoplastics media. The self-assembly NPs was achieved through thermal evaporation onto vapor-phase compatible ionic liquid based deep eutectic solvent over growth substrate. finite-difference time-domain simulation revealed localized field enhancement is strong gaps, which generate uniform "hotspots" obtained Benefiting from highly accessible exhibits excellent sensitivity detecting crystal violet with limit (LOD) 10–14 M reproducibility (RSD 5.8%). capable PET LOD 1 μg/mL about 100 real samples such tap water, lake diluted milk, wine. Moreover, also validated feasibility designed practical collected commercial drinking water bottles, it showed great potential applications actual environments.

Given the broad and intense use of plastic, society is being increasingly affected by its degradation by-products, particularly microplastics (MPs), fragments smaller than 5 mm in size, nanoplastics (NPs), with sizes less 1 µm. MPs NPs may enter body primarily through inhalation, consumption, skin contact. Once ingested, can penetrate tissues, deviating to other parts potentially affecting important cellular pathways such as nonconforming chemokine receptors that control communication between fetus mother. Consequently, potential health harm induced via MP internalization a major issue, evidenced multiple studies demonstrating harmful consequences diverse animal models human cells. Here, an overview various modes exposure presented, including placental transfer, ingestion, breastmilk absorption, well fetal toxicity due plastic particles based on vitro studies. Though our environment are becoming more recognized, their developmental still scarcely known. Besides negatively pregnancy, have been shown developing fetus, given ability cross barrier. Still, considerable gaps remain understanding dispersion these precise types bearing greatest dangers. As result, we advocate for larger-scale epidemiological investigations, development novel approaches measuring NP exposures, necessity kinds guide future research efforts.
