Abstract In spite of tremendous efforts dedicated to addressing bacterial infections and biofilm formation, the post‐antibiotic ear continues witness a gap between established materials an easily accessible yet biocompatible antibacterial reagent. Here we show carbon dots (CDs) synthesized via single hydrothermal process can afford promising activity that be further enhanced by exposure light. By using citric acid polyethyleneimine as precursors, photoluminescence CDs produced within one‐pot, one‐step reaction in only 2 h. The demonstrate robust properties against both Gram‐positive Gram‐negative bacteria and, notably, considerable enhancement effect observed upon photo‐irradiation. Mechanistic insights reveal generate singlet oxygen ( 1 O ) when exposed light, leading augmented reactive species level. approach for disruption biofilms inhibition formation has also been established. Our findings present potential solution combat resistance offer path reduce dependence on traditional antibiotics.

The mouth cavity is the second most complex microbial community in human body. It composed of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa. An imbalance oral microbiota may lead to various conditions, including caries, soft tissue infections, periodontitis, root canal peri-implantitis (PI), pulpitis, candidiasis, denture stomatitis. Additionally, several locally administered antimicrobials have been suggested for dentistry surgical non-surgical applications. main drawbacks are increased antimicrobial resistance, risk upsetting natural microbiota, hypersensitivity responses. Because their unique physiochemical characteristics, nanoparticles (NPs) can circumvent antibiotic-resistance mechanisms exert action via a variety new bactericidal routes. anti-microbial properties, carbon-based NPs becoming more effective antibacterial agents. Periodontitis, PI, dentin other dental diseases among conditions that be treated using carbon (CNPs) like graphene oxide dots. outline scientific development multifunctional CNPs concerning disorders will given before talking about significant influence on health. Some these illnesses include pulp disorders, PI. We also review remaining research application barriers possible future problems.
