Abstract 2D monoelemental nanomaterials (Xenes) have shown tremendous potential for versatile biomedical applications. Bismuth, as a heavy element in pnictogens, has acquired massive research interest due to its unique optical performance, high biocompatibility, stability, and relatively low cost. However, the utilization of bismuthene nanomedicine not been achieved because difficulty engineering with crucial structural/compositional characteristics satisfying strict requirements. Herein, address this Gordian knot, facile strategy intercalate delaminate Bi bulk generating mass few‐layered yield by employing water molecule mediated freezing–thawing process sodium borohydride‐triggered reduction treatment is proposed. The resulting displays good performance near‐infrared (NIR) biowindow can be excited via red light reactive oxygen species generation, enabling applications multiple photonic cancer settings, including photothermal hyperthermia photodynamic therapy. Utilizing intrinsic desirable absorbance strong X‐ray attenuation bismuthene, dual therapy conducted under supervision photoacoustic/computed tomography guided multimodal imaging. This only offers mass‐production ready, cost‐effective, eco‐efficient methodology Xenes, but also exploits an innovative based nanomedicine.

As a noninvasive treatment modality, ultrasound (US)-triggered sonodynamic therapy (SDT) shows broad and promising applications to overcome the drawbacks of traditional photodynamic (PDT) in combating cancer. However, SDT efficacy is still not satisfactory without oxygen (O2) assistance. In addition, there also much space explore SDT-based synergistic therapeutic modalities. Herein, novel Pt-CuS Janus composed hollow semiconductor CuS noble metallic Pt was rationally designed successfully synthesized. The large inner cavity for loading sonosensitizer molecules (tetra-(4-aminophenyl) porphyrin, TAPP) implement SDT. Moreover, deposition only enhances photothermal performance compared with those nanoparticles (NPs) due effect local electric field enhancement but possesses nanozyme activity catalyzing decomposition endogenous overexpressed hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) produce O2 that can tumor hypoxia augment SDT-induced highly toxic reactive species (ROS) production efficient cancer cell apoptosis. Importantly, generated heat by 808 nm laser irradiation accelerate catalytic elevate level further facilitates efficacy. Interestingly, thermally sensitive copolymer coated around act as smart switch regulate ability control TAPP release has significant on modulating effect. catalysis-enhanced efficiency almost realized complete resection obvious reoccurrence simultaneously displayed biosafety. Furthermore, high optical absorbance allows as-synthesized photoacoustic (PA) imaging NIR thermal imaging. This work develops versatile nanoplatform multifunctional theranostic strategy broadens biological designing their structure.

X-rays are widely applied in clinical medical facilities for radiotherapy (RT) and biomedical imaging. However, the sole use of cancer treatment leads to insufficient radiation energy deposition due low X-ray attenuation coefficients living tissues organs, producing unavoidable excessive doses with serious side effects healthy body parts. Over past decade, developments materials science nanotechnology have led rapid progress field X-ray-activated tumor-targeting nanosystems, which able tackle even systemic tumors relieve burden exposure large doses. Additionally, novel imaging contrast agents techniques also been developed. In comparison conventional external light sources (e.g., near infrared), technique is ideal activation nanosystems applications its nearly unlimited penetration depth organisms. this review, we systematically describe interaction mechanisms between provide an overview X-ray-sensitive recent on cancer-associated theranostic applications.

Light-sensitive yolk–shell nanoparticles (YSNs) as remote-controlled and stimuli-responsive theranostic platforms provide an attractive method for synergistic cancer therapy. Herein, a kind of novel multifunctional YSNs has been successfully constructed by integrating star-shaped gold (Au star) the second near-infrared (NIR-II) photothermal yolks biodegradable crystalline zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) shells. In this platform, chemotherapeutic drug (doxorubicin hydrochloride, DOX) was encapsulated into cavity, which can show behavior controlled release due to degradation process ZIF-8 in mildly acidic tumor microenvironment. Upon 1064 nm (NIR-II biowindow) laser irradiation, nanostar@ZIF-8 (Au@MOF) exhibited outstanding anticancer effect based on their promoted cargo properties. Moreover, strong NIR region absorbance endows Au@MOF thermal imaging photoacoustic (PA) This work contributes design "all-in-one" nanocarrier that realizes bimodal diagnosis chemo-photothermal
