Resilience
is

adapt
successfully
in
face
of
adversity,
trauma,
or
significant
threat.
Some
key
early
studies
resilience
were
observational

They
followed

different
populations,
and
a
recent
upsurge
on
underlying
genomic
neurobiological
mechanisms.
Neural
molecular
preclinical
models
are

increasingly
identifying
active
stress
adaptations
resilient
animals.
Knowledge
gained
from

be
harnessed
develop
new
preventive
enhance
at-risk
populations.
Further,
treatment

enhancing
potentially
modifiable
protective
factors
that
consistently

psychological
enrich
currently
available
for
individuals
with
posttraumatic
disorder
(PTSD).
Translating
our
expanding
knowledge
neurobiology
additionally
promises
yield
novel
therapeutic
strategies
treating
this
disabling
condition.

review

field

discusses
how
findings
have
led

stress
disorder
(PTSD).
Treatment

BackgroundPosttraumatic
stress
disorder,
