Asthma is recognized as a chronic respiratory illness characterized by airway inflammation and hyperresponsiveness. Wogonoside, flavonoid glycoside, reported to significantly alleviate the response oxidative stress. Herein, this study aimed investigate therapeutic effect underlying mechanism of wogonoside on mucus hypersecretion in murine asthma model human bronchial epithelial cells (16HBE). BALB/c mice were sensitized challenged with ovalbumin (OVA). Pulmonary function number bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) examined. Pathological changes lung tissue each group evaluated via hematoxylin eosin periodic acid–Schiff staining, levels cytokines BALF immunoglobulin E serum determined an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The expression relevant genes was analyzed real-time PCR. Western blotting immunofluorescence employed detect proteins 16HBE cells. Wogonoside treatment reduced level T-helper 2 including interleukin (IL)-4, IL-5, IL-13 IgE decreased mRNA (IL-4, IL-6, IL-13, IL-1β tumor necrosis factor-α), chemokines (CCL-2, CCL-11, CCL-24), mucoproteins (MUC5AC, MUC5B, GOB5) tissues. MUC5AC phosphorylation STAT6 NF-κB p65 tissues downregulated after treatment. Thus, may effectively decrease inflammation, remodeling, blocking NF-κB/STAT6 activation.
