Abstract Sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors reduce the risk of major heart failure events, an action that is statistically linked to enhanced erythropoiesis, suggesting stimulation erythropoietin and cardioprotection are related a shared mechanism.
