DNA methylation is an epigenetic modification that has consistently been shown to be linked with a variety of human traits and diseases. Because dynamic potentially reversible in nature can reflect environmental exposures predict the onset diseases, it piqued interest as potential disease biomarker. patterns are more stable than transcriptomic or proteomic patterns, they relatively easy measure track exposure different environments risk factors. Importantly, technologies for quantification have become increasingly cost effective-accelerating new research field-and enabled development novel biomarkers. Quite few methylation-based predictors number diseases already exist.
