The self-assembly of electron-deficient protonated N, N'-dipyridyltetrachloroperylenediimide (4Cl-DPPDI) and electron-rich polyoxometalate acids HnXM12O40 (POMs; X = P or Si; M W Mo) resulted in four isomorphous donor-acceptor hybrid crystals 1-4 with segregated POM anions one-dimensional racemic hydrogen-bonded 4Cl-DPPDI networks as electron-donor -acceptor components, respectively. Because the compact contacts between tectons induced by anion-π interactions, besides enhanced photochromism, these unique isostructural hybrids exhibited unusual room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) emissions. More interestingly, owing to facial two lone pair-π-assisted π-π they also showed unprecedented photon upconversion triplet-triplet annihilation (TTA).

This comprehensive review surveys developments over the past decade in field of naphthalene diimides (NDIs). It explores their application toward: supramolecular chemistry; sensors; host-guest complexes for molecular switching devices, such as catenanes and rotaxanes; ion-channels by ligand gating; gelators sensing aromatic systems; catalysis through anion-π interactions; NDI intercalations with DNA medicinal applications. We have also explored new designs, synthesis, progress core-substituted (cNDIs), implications areas artificial photosynthesis solar cell technology. Also presented are some interesting synthetic routes procedures that can be used toward further development NDI-bearing compounds future Finally, we conclude our views on chemistry research endeavors, outline what believe key obstacles need to overcome NDIs see real world

There are relatively few reports on the combination of viologen and polyoxometalates (POMs). Herein, we successfully synthesized three viologen–POM-based compounds by in situ transformation ligands under hydrothermal conditions, namely, {MII(1,4-cby)2[H2(γ-Mo8O26)]}·nH2O (1: M = Ni, n 4; 2: Co, 6), [NiII(1,3-cby)(H2O)4(β-Mo8O26)0.5]·2H2O (3) (1,4-cby·Cl 1-(4-carboxy-benzyl)-[4,4′]bipyridinyl-1-ium, 1,3-cby·Cl 1-(3-carboxy-benzyl)-[4,4′]bipyridinyl-1-ium). Isostructural 1 2 exhibit two-dimensional (2D) layer structures with POMs as linking nodes, while compound 3 shows a one-dimensional (1D) metal–organic chain dissociative POM anions. When temperature increases, 1–3 show good reversible thermochromism properties also have fluorescence quenching effect. Moreover, can be used detectors for organic amines, especially atmosphere ammonia, ethylenediamine, diethylamine an obvious discoloration In addition, was material preparation memristors superior (distinct temperature-adjusted resistive switching properties). It bipolar (RS) behavior at different temperatures 20, 50, 100 °C.
