Aquatic invertebrates are a major source of biomaterials and bioactive natural products that can find applications as pharmaceutics, nutraceutics, cosmetics, antibiotics, antifouling biomaterials. Symbiotic microorganisms often the real producers many secondary metabolites initially isolated from marine invertebrates; however, certain number them actually synthesized by macro-organisms. In this review, we analysed literature years 2010–2019 on (bioactive molecules biomaterials) main phyla explored so far, including sponges, cnidarians, molluscs, echinoderms ascidians, present relevant examples interest to public private stakeholders. We also describe omics tools have been more in identifying understanding mechanisms processes underlying biosynthesis invertebrates. Since there is increasing attention finding new solutions for sustainable large-scale supply compounds, propose possible improvement biodiscovery pipeline might come study utilization aquatic invertebrate stem cells.

Marine organisms are expected to be an important source of inspiration for drug discovery after terrestrial plants and microorganisms. Despite the remarkable progress in field marine natural products (MNPs) chemistry, there only a few open access databases dedicated MNPs research. To meet growing demand mining sharing MNPs-related data resources, we developed CMNPD, comprehensive database based on manually curated data. CMNPD currently contains more than 31 000 chemical entities with various physicochemical pharmacokinetic properties, standardized biological activity data, systematic taxonomy geographical distribution organisms, detailed literature citations. It is integrated platform structure dereplication (assessment novelty) (marine) products, lead compounds, structure-activity relationships investigation ecology. Access available through user-friendly web interface at https://www.cmnpd.org. We committed providing free not professional researchers but also broader scientific community facilitate from ocean.
