Brewers’ spent grain (BSG), the major by-product of brewery industry, has high nutritional value, making it suitable for upcycling into products such as healthy, and sustainable cookies. Nonetheless, incorporation BSG in cookies can impact their quality, given increased fiber protein content. This work explored effect replacing wheat flour with at 50% 75% cookie formulations, focusing on physical, chemical, sensory properties. The dietary fiber, lipid, content improved considerably highest BSG, increasing from 6.37% to 15.54%, 9.95% 13.06%, 9.59% 12.29%, respectively. Conversely, moisture water activity decreased 11.03% 3.37% 0.742 0.506, respectively, forecasting a lower risk microbial contamination shelf-life. resulted brightness hardness, 40 N 97 N. Moreover, colorimetric shifts among control two BSG-rich formulations could be easily identified by an untrained observer. Sensory evaluation showed that retained acceptable characteristics, suggesting potential further development. Overall, enhances profile no excessive detrimental features.

Due to the growing concerns about pharmaceutical contamination and its devastating impact on economy health of humans environment, developing efficient approaches for removing such contaminants has become essential. Adsorption is a cost-effective technique pollutants. Thus, in this work, banana peels as agro-industrial waste were utilized synthesizing activated carbon pharmaceuticals, namely amoxicillin carbamazepine from different water matrices. The chemically by phosphoric acid (H3PO4) was carbonized at temperatures 350 °C, 450 °C 550 °C. material characterized several techniques scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), Boehm titration, point zero charge (pHPZC), BET surface area (SBET), proximate ultimate analyses, powder diffraction (XRD), thermos-gravimetric analysis (TGA). SEM peel (BPAC) depicted semi-regular heterogeneous morphology, an abundance pores diverse forms sizes. titration revealed increase amounts acidic groups 0.711 mmol/g due activation H3PO4. FTIR recorded peaks suggesting significant modifications spectroscopic characteristics BPAC successful adsorption pollutant molecules. pHpzc calculated be 5.005. SBET dramatically increased 911.59 m2/g after activation. optimum conditions 25 materials dosage 1.2 g/L, saturation time 120 min, pollutants mixture mg/L, pH 5. Waste cooking oils (WCOs) are generated globally in significant amounts by various sectors including hospitality, households, and industrial operations. Many nations currently lack dedicated legislation for managing WCOs, creating a pressing environmental challenge. At present, WCOs primarily utilized industries as raw materials biodiesel production energy generation. However, their role second-generation is contingent on availability, often necessitating imports of either or from other countries. The European Union has emphasized the importance prioritizing biowaste high-value alternative products beyond to achieve carbon neutrality 2050. reviews have been published literature reporting potential WCO applications produce biolubricants, biosolvents, animal feed, asphalt additives, among others, however, no detailed analysis trends ever presented. Within this panorama, unlike existing that focus specific polymer classes derived work sought present comprehensive overview use polymeric fuel energy, providing general patents (or alive) last 10 years, together with which innovative being introduced sold market today.

The applicability of cellulose and its derivatives is greatly depends on their attributes such as aspect ratio, morphology, surface chemistry, crystallinity, well thermal mechanical properties. However, these can alter according to the utilized raw material, size classifications, extraction techniques, or fibrillation methods. Among these, effect material particle properties has received limited attention in scientific studies. Therefore, this study aimed investigate different sizes spent coffee grounds (SCG) (A: 850-1400 μm, B: 500-850 C: 355-500 μm) physicochemical TEMPO-oxidized (TOC). freez-dried TOC was characterized terms functional groups, width diameter, carboxyl content, charge density, properties, re-dispersibility water. Successful oxidation all samples confirmed by presence a sodium carboxylate peak FTIR spectrum. Higher resistance, improved physical stability re-dispersed suspension were observed A-TOC sample. Unlike B C-TOC, favored sample for obtaining fibrillated with crystallinity 49.92 %. In contrast, production process significantly damaged crystalline regions finer particles reduced C-TOC values ranging from 35 37 conclusion, SCG highly sensitive reaction conditions showed high tendency toward dissolution, which make them unsuitable candidates fiber fabrication. SCG, only coarse found be ideal producing oxidized fibers.
