Neurological disorders pose significant global public health challenges, with a rising prevalence and complex pathophysiological mechanisms that impose substantial social economic burdens. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), its holistic approach multi-target effects, has gained increasing attention in the treatment of neurological diseases. This review explores bioactive compounds derived from herbal plants, focusing on their action, underlying pathways, potential applications functional food development. The highlights neuroprotective properties flavonoids, alkaloids, polysaccharides, polyphenols found key TCM herbs such as Scutellaria baicalensis , Salvia miltiorrhiza Ligusticum chuanxiong Gastrodia elata . These have demonstrated anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, neurogenic making them promising candidates for prevention conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s (PD), depression. Furthermore, synergistic effects formulations targeting multiple signaling pathways offer advantages over single-target therapies, especially combating neurodegenerative also discusses challenges future directions integrating these into foods dietary supplements, aiming to improve enhance clinical outcomes. Ultimately, this work aims provide valuable insights TCM-based interventions promoting well-being addressing burden disorders.

We here extracted a polysaccharide fragment from Gastrodia elata, characterized by main chain connected via (1 → 4)-α-D-Glcp bonds, with terminal α-D-Glcp-(1→) linked to the through O-6 of 4,6)-α-D-Glcp and O-3 3,4)-α-D-Glcp (SRGP). Both in vitro vivo experiments demonstrated that SRGP activates TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway, exerting immunomodulatory effects alleviating cyclophosphamide (CTX)-induced intestinal mucosal damage mice. High-throughput 16S rRNA sequencing further revealed restores gut microbiota composition enhances abundance specific bacterial populations. Additionally, improves CTX-induced upregulating tight junction proteins, mitigating dysbiosis, regulating both overall microbial community levels bacteria.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a complex neurodegenerative disorder. Recent evidence reveals connections between neuroinflammatory processes and intestinal microbiota alterations in the progression of this pathology. This comprehensive review explores intricate relationships them, highlighting their combined impact on PD. Neuroinflammation, characterized by immune activation central nervous system, increasingly acknowledged as critical factor development Concurrently, gut composition have been linked to PD, suggesting potential modulatory role progression. Thus, bidirectional communication along gut-brain axis has become pivotal comprehending pathogenesis Furthermore, we explore emerging therapeutic strategies that target these interconnected pathways, providing insights into avenues for PD treatment. The elucidation establishes promising foundation innovative aimed at altering improving quality life individuals affected
