Background/Objectives:
Patients
with
central
nervous
system
injuries
who
are
hospitalized
in
intensive
care
units
(ICUs)
at
high
risk
for
nosocomial
infections.
Limited
data
available
on
the
incidence
and
patterns
of
microbial
colonization
infection
this
patient
population.
Methods:
To
fill
gap,
we
performed
an
electronic
health
record-based
study
1614
chronic
patients
brain
injury
admitted
to
ICU
from
2017
2023.
Results:
Among
infectious
complications,
pneumonia
was
most
common
(n
=
879;
54.46%).
Sepsis
diagnosed

patients,
whom

(85%)
were
pneumonia.

that

sepsis

Abstract
Extracellular
polymeric
substances
(EPS)

biofilm

mediate
interactions

Abstract
Microbiomes
are
foundational
components
of
the
environment
that
provide
essential
services
relating
to
food
security,
carbon
sequestration,
human
health,
and
overall
well-being

Microbiota
exert

effects

complex
interactions
at
interfaces
with
plant,
animal,
hosts,
as

soil

review
aims
explore
ecological,
evolutionary,
molecular
processes
governing

microbiome–host
relationships,
specifically
critical

bacterial
species
which
co-exist
on
surfaces
