This review compiles and contextualizes the available empirical literature on natural occurrences of high-stakes altruism among nonrelatives, i.e., behaviors often called 'heroic'. Despite growing attention surrounding impostor phenomenon (also known as “imposter syndrome”), recent reviews have suggested that current measures may be inadequate in capturing the complex and multifaceted nature of this construct. The objective studies was to clarify theoretical conceptualization based on experiences an achievement-oriented setting. We conducted a review literature developed item pool for novel assessment (IPA) (Study 1).
