Psychobiotics are probiotics that have the characteristics of modulating central nervous system (CNS) functions or reconciled actions by gut-brain axis (GBA) through neural, humoral and metabolic pathways to improve gastrointestinal activity as well anxiolytic even antidepressant abilities. The aim this work was evaluate effect Lactobacillus helveticus R0052 Bifidobacterium longum R0175 on gut microbiota mildly anxious adults using SHIME®. protocol included a one-week control period two weeks treatment with L. B. R0175. Ammonia (NH4+), short chain fatty acids (SCFAs), gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), cytokines composition were determined. Probiotic strains decreased significantly throughout gastric phase. highest survival rates exhibited (81.58%; 77.22%) after intestinal phase when compared (68.80%; 64.64%). At genus level, taxonomic assignment performed in ascending colon SHIME® model showed (7 14 days) (p < 0.005) increased abundance Olsenella Lachnospira Escheria-Shigella. probiotic 0.001) NH4+ production period. For SCFAs, we observed (14 an increase acetic total SCFAs secretion anti-inflammatory (IL-6 IL-10) pro-inflammatory (TNF-alpha) plays important role microbiota, producing GABA, stimulating anti-anxiety homeostasis. signature anxiety disorders provides promising direction for prevention mental illness opens new perspective psychobiotic main actor therapeutic targets.

Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids have received considerable attention in the field of mental health, particular regarding treatment depression. This review presents an overview current research on role omega-3 prevention and depressive disorders. The existing body evidence demonstrates that acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) docosahexaenoic (DHA), antidepressant effects can be attributed to their modulation neuroinflammation, neurotransmitter function, neuroplasticity. Nevertheless, clinical trials supplementation yielded inconsistent results. Some studies demonstrated significant reductions symptoms following treatment, whereas others shown minimal no beneficial impact. A range factors, encompassing dosage, ratio EPA DHA, baseline nutritional status, been identified as having a potential impact noted Furthermore, it has suggested may act adjunctive for those undergoing treatment. Notwithstanding these encouraging findings, discrepancies study designs variability individual responses underscore necessity further order establish uniform, standardized guidelines use management

To determine the relative effectiveness of combination therapy antidepressants with low-dose methylfolate versus antidepressant monotherapy in patients depressive disorder. In an open-label clinical trial, forty-four disorder (6A70, 6A71, and 6A72 according to ICD-11) received evidence-based (either escitalopram 10-20 mg, sertraline 50-100 fluoxetine 20-40 duloxetine 30-60 mirtazapine 15-30 venlafaxine 75-150 trazodone amitriptyline 25-75 or clomipramine mg orally daily for 4 weeks). The experimental group, Group B was additionally given a dose 800 µg four weeks. psychometric testing depression achieved through administration Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) on days 0, 14, 28, find improvement score day remission rate decrease time lag 14. Nutritional psychiatry is a promising approach to mental health, yet translating research into clinical practice remains challenge. This article underscores the importance of implementation science in closing gap between evidence and real-world application. Current barriers include entrenched focus on pharmacological treatments, inadequate integration nutritional interventions established care models, limited clinician training nutrition. To address these issues, we suggest incorporating dietitians or nutritionists health teams, educating case managers interventions, expanding interdisciplinary collaboration. Additionally, investing comprehensive programs for clinicians leveraging emerging technologies can help facilitate this integration. By embracing strategies, be more effectively implemented routine care, offering holistic patient-centered approach. Implementation key overcoming advancing treatment, leading improved outcomes enhanced well-being patients. [ Psychiatr Ann . 2025;55(2):e46–e50.]

Synbiotic 2000, a pre + probiotic, reduced comorbid autistic traits and emotion dysregulation in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) patients. Immune activity bacteria-derived short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are microbiota–gut–brain axis mediators. The aim was to investigate 2000 effects on plasma levels of immune markers SCFAs children adults with ADHD. ADHD patients (n = 182) completed the 9-week intervention or placebo 156 provided blood samples. Healthy adult controls 57) baseline At baseline, had higher pro-inflammatory sICAM-1 sVCAM-1 lower SCFA than controls. Children sICAM-1, sVCAM-1, IL-12/IL-23p40, IL-2Rα, formic, acetic, propionic acid were more abnormal medication. compared placebo, IL-12/IL-23p40 increased correlated negatively sVCAM-1. Preliminary human aortic smooth-muscle-cell experiments indicated that protected against IL-1β-induced ICAM-1 expression. These findings suggest treatment reduces IL12/IL-23p40 increases Propionic acid, together formic acetic may contribute lowering higher-than-normal levels.

Abstract Rhodiola rosea (RR) is a plant whose bioactive components may function as adaptogens, thereby increasing resistance to stress and improving overall resilience. Some of these effects influence exercise performance adaptations. Based on studies rodents, potential mechanisms for the ergogenic RR include modulation energy substrate stores use, reductions in fatigue muscle damage altered antioxidant activity. At least sixteen investigations humans have explored ergogenicity RR. These indicate acute supplementation (∼200 mg containing ∼1 % salidroside ∼3 rosavin, provided 60 min before exercise) prolong time-to-exhaustion improve time trial recreationally active males females, with limited documented benefits chronic supplementation. Recent trials providing higher doses (∼1500 2400 RR/d 4–30 d) demonstrated during sprints bicycle ergometers training trained untrained adults. The damage, inflammation, system modulation, activity perceived exertion are presently equivocal. Collectively, it appears that adequately dosed enhances dimensions related outcomes select tasks. However, current literature does not unanimously show ergogenic. Given the comprehensive examination of role fatty acid-rich diets in central nervous system development children, this study bridges significant gaps understanding dietary effects on neurodevelopment. It delves into essential functions acids neurodevelopment, including their contributions to neuronal membrane formation, neuroinflammatory modulation, neurogenesis, and synaptic plasticity. Despite acknowledged importance these nutrients, review reveals a lack synthesis current research, particularly regarding broader spectrum optimal levels throughout childhood. By consolidating existing knowledge highlighting critical research gaps, such as acid metabolism neurodevelopmental disorders need for age-specific guidelines, sets foundation future studies. This underscores potential nutritional strategies significantly influence trajectories, advocating an enriched academic clinical that can inform recommendations interventions aimed at optimizing neurological health from infancy.
