People with intellectual disabilities (ID) face a high risk of experiencing adverse events including abuse, neglect, and serious medical issues. Access to effective interventions for people moderate severe ID is limited because communication deficits that are characteristic this population. Some the negative effects exposure trauma can include increases in problem behaviors. Behavior analysts have developed robust assessments treatments address these behaviors ID; however, when arise after traumatic event, specialized may be necessary ensure treatment decreased re-traumatization. Autistic people appear to be at increased risk of post-traumatic stress disorder, and experiences involving violence or sexual abuse common in this population. However, knowledge concerning trauma autistic with co-occurring intellectual disabilities is limited. In cross-sectional study, we explored the prevalence as well clinical correlates reported abuse, a sample 88 adults referred for mental health assessment. Objective It has been suggested that the sequelae of trauma are under‐recognized in youth on autism spectrum. We aimed to generate expert consensus regarding important indicators, including but not limited traumatic stress symptoms, autistic youth. Methods recruited 72 experts and/or childhood trauma. Via a 2‐round Delphi survey, commented and rated importance 48 potential drawn from PTSD criteria broader literature autism. A revised list 51 18 clinical guidelines developed comments, summaries qualifications ratings Round 1 were submitted second round ( n = 66; 92% retention) review rating. Results Twenty‐two indicators reached (>75% 2 endorsement). Individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and intellectual disability (ID) more frequently experience potentially traumatic events (PTEs), may be vulnerable to trauma-related symptoms. However, it is unclear how such symptoms are captured on tools used for behavioural psychiatric assessment in this population. To explore whether PTEs associated symptom reports adults ASD ID.
