intellectual
disabilities
(ID)
face
a
high
risk
of
experiencing
adverse
events
including
abuse,
neglect,
and
serious
medical
issues.
Access
to
effective
interventions
for
people
moderate
severe
ID
is
limited
because
communication
deficits
that
are
characteristic
this
population.
Some
the
negative
effects
exposure
trauma
can
include
increases
in
problem
behaviors.
Behavior
analysts
have
developed
robust
assessments
treatments
address
these
behaviors
ID;
however,
when
arise
after
traumatic
event,
specialized
may
be
necessary
ensure
treatment
decreased
re-traumatization.
Specifically,
if
trauma-related
stimuli
(TRS)
differentially
affect
preferences

Abstract
Adverse
life
events
and
mental
health
conditions
are
unfortunately
common
amongst
autistic
adults
children;
this
may
present
a
vulnerability
to
developing
post-traumatic
stress
disorder
(PTSD).
This
systematic
review
provides
an
update
of
Rumball’s
(
Review
Journal
Autism
Developmental
Disorders
,

2019)
PTSD
in
individuals
identifies
18
new
studies
published
from
2017
2022,
reflecting
increased
research
interest
populations.
Included
literature
suggests
that
children
experience
more
severe
symptoms
compared
their
non-autistic
peers,
with
at
least
comparable
rates
occurrence.
We
provide
comprehensive
overview
emerging
field

future

Post-traumatic
stress
disorder
(PTSD),
previously
known
as
battle
fatigue
syndrome
or
shell
shock,
is
a
severe
mental
disturbance
condition
that
