Abstract Introduction The residuals approach, in which residual scores from regression models are used as a proxy for resilient functioning, offers great potential to increase understanding of resilience processes. However, its application child and adolescent wellbeing research is limited date. We use this approach examine how adversity exposure impacts later (life satisfaction, internalising mental health difficulties) the early-to-middle adolescence transition; whether gender ethnic differences exist; internal external factors confer protective effects resilience; and, effect these differs by level exposure. Method Secondary analysis #BeeWell longitudinal data set (N = 12,130 adolescents, aged 12/13 at T1 13/14 T2, representative Greater Manchester, England) was undertaken, using series linear regressions establish indices wellbeing, before assessing on resilience. Results Multiple (e.g., home material deprivation, sexuality discrimination, bullying) were found impact wellbeing. Girls white adolescents presented lower levels than their peers. Internal psychological (self-esteem, emotional regulation, optimism) consistently conferred strongest effects, but behavioural/activity (physical activity, sleep) also contributed Among factors, friendships peer support most salient. Physical activity yielded stronger among boys (compared girls). Effects those higher) Conclusion can make considerable contribution our interplay between access determining outcomes. Moreover, provides clear implications policy practice terms prevention (of exposure) intervention (to facilitate resilience).

Abstract Background Although previous studies have found that parenting style significantly predicts emotional and behavioral problems (EBPs) among Chinese adolescents, the mechanism between different styles EBPs requires in-depth investigation. In our study, we aimed to investigate mediating effect of resilience, a positive psychological characteristic, adolescents. Methods this cross-sectional used multistage stratified cluster random sampling method collect data in Shenyang, Liaoning Province from November December 2019. Self-developed questionnaires were distributed 1028 adolescents aged 10–18. Finally, study consisted 895 participants. The bootstrap was role resilience as mediator relationship psychology perspective. Results mean score 12.71 (SD = 5.77). After controlling for variables such gender, age, left-behind children, family type income, partially played associations paternal rejection (a × b 0.051 BCa95%CI:0.023,0.080), maternal 0.055 BCa95%CI: 0.024, 0.086), warmth -0.139 -0.182, -0.099) -0.140 -0.102), with EBPs. sizes were11.28%, 11.51%, 40.76%, 38.78%, respectively. Conclusions Resilience could mediate EBPs, highlighting parents should adopt improvement be effective reducing
