Fear of COVID-19, traumatic growth, and traumatic stress symptoms: the mediating role of basic psychological needs

Although
COVID-19
brought
many
negative
psychological
consequences,
people
also
experienced
growth.
The
present
study
investigated
why
this
happened
and
hypothesized
that
self-determination
theory’s
(SDT’s)
basic
needs
(BPNs)
may
play
a
role
in
explanation.
Based
on
SDT,
cross-sectional
both
the
satisfaction
frustration
of
BPNs
mediated
associations
between
fear
COVID-19,
post-traumatic
growth
(PTG),
stress
(PTS)
symptoms.
A
sample
391
Peruvian
adults
(70.6%
women;
M
age
=
35.04,
range
18
84)
responded
to
several
valid
reliable
questionnaires:
Fear
Scale
(FCV.19S);

Psychological
Needs
Satisfaction

(BPNSFS);
Impact
Event
Scale-Revised

Inventory
(PTGI).
results
showed
need
association
PTG,
positive
PTG.
In
addition,
direct
effect
was
found
from
toward
PTS
importance
considering
SDT’s
explaining
PTG
after
experiencing
COVID-19.

Abstract
Upon
the
outbreak
of
SARS‐CoV‐2
virus,
it
was
clear
that
pandemic
would
not
only
entail
physical
but
also
psychological
challenges
and
threats
to
individuals’
sustained
motivation,
behavioral
adherence,
mental
health.
To
encourage
Belgian
authorities
take
these
aspects
into
account,
Motivation
Barometer,
a
large‐scale
dynamic
survey,
launched
in
March
2020.
Its
purpose
monitor
cognitive,
affective,
citizens’
functioning
across
pandemic,
with
special
attention
given
motivational
social
factors.
In
present
review,
we
provide
description
methodology
synthesize
key
findings
emerging
from
clarify
how
were
used
practice
benefit
different
societal
stakeholders
(i.e.,
broader
public,
policymakers,
intermediate‐level
organizations,
media),
highlight
its
potential
contribution
for
management
other
(e.g.,
climate
change,
well‐being).
We
conclude
Barometer
critical
policy
instrument
during
Belgium.
It
helped
bridge
gap
between
scientists,
media,
general
and,
as
such,
allowed
demonstrate
incremental
value
sciences
society.

A psychologically interpretable artificial intelligence framework for the screening of loneliness, depression, and anxiety

artificial
intelligence
(AI)-driven
psychological
framework

leverages
video-recorded
conversations
detect
negative

their
responses

emoLDAnet

a
combination
deep
learning

VGG11)

La
pandemia
por
COVID-19
ha
sido
un
evento
que
nos
marcado
en
muchos
aspectos
de
la
vida.
percepción
riesgo
y
resiliencia
personal
tuvieron
papel
importante
las
respuestas
frente
a
pandemia.
El
objetivo
del
presente
estudio
fue
analizar
diferencia
entre
función
edad,
el
sexo
nivel
estudios
población
mexicana,
además
se
buscó
identificar
los
factores
fungen
como
predictores
dos
variables
mencionadas.
investigación
realizó
con
una
muestra
791
personas
adultas
utilizando
escala
elaborada
para
individual
adulta
durante
periodo
2020.
Ambas
escalas
mostraron
buenos
índices
propiedades
psicométricas,
validez
confiabilidad.
En
cuanto
al
análisis
observa
edad
influyen
significativamente
son
predictoras
estudiadas.
Se
identificó
menor
estudios,
solteras
tendieron
percibir
mayor
posgrado
quienes
presentan
más
altos
niveles
resiliencia.
Ante
este
panorama
sugiere
tener
acciones
manejo,
gestión
e
intervención
mejorar
estrategias
resilientes,
particularmente
tipo
situaciones
similares.
