Dilated perivascular spaces (PVS) have emerged as a pathological hallmark in various neurological conditions, including Parkinson's disease (PD). Levodopa-induced dyskinesia (LID), an intractable motor complication of PD, remains enigmatic regarding the distribution patterns PVS. Our objective was to scrutinize percent PVS (pPVS) changes within PD patients with LID (PD-LID). In total, 132 individuals were enrolled, PD-LID (n = 42), without (PD-nLID, n 45), and healthy controls (HCs, 45). Employing automated approach for quantification based on structural magnetic resonance imaging, we comprehensively evaluated total pPVS subcortical white matter globally regionally. A significant increase global observed versus HCs, particularly evident relative HCs. Within group, elevated discerned right inferior frontal gyrus region (rIFG) (pars opercularis), contrasting PD-nLID Moreover, exhibited increased bilateral superior temporal regions compared Notably, rIFG positively correlated dyskinetic symptoms could well identify LID. findings unveiled alternations at both regional levels, highlighting prospective imaging marker

Abstract Objective Diffusion-tensor imaging (DTI) and diffusion-weighted (DWI) along perivascular spaces (ALPS) index have been proposed as noninvasive techniques to indirectly evaluate the glymphatic system function. However, these are sensitive examination parameters, limiting inter-study comparability. The definition of region interest (ROI) has identified primary weakness ALPS method. Therefore, we aimed determine which ROI characteristics would best promote consistent analysis. Methods We examined 13 healthy volunteers using DTI DWI calculate index, compared determined correlations among 11 different configurations, tested inter-method reliability. Results found significant differences between configurations in calculation. Considering reliability, a squared is most suitable. ICC showed good-to-excellent agreement (mean = 0.83). did not find differences. Conclusion It important standardize for
