Veterinary antibiotics are widely used worldwide to treat and prevent infectious diseases, as well (in countries where allowed) promote growth improve feeding efficiency of food-producing animals in livestock activities. Among the different antibiotic classes, tetracyclines sulfonamides two most for veterinary proposals. Due fact that these compounds poorly absorbed gut animals, a significant proportion (up ~90%) them excreted unchanged, thus reaching environment mainly through application manures slurries fertilizers agricultural fields. Once soil, subjected series physicochemical biological processes, which depend both on nature soil characteristics. Adsorption/desorption particles degradation main processes will affect persistence, bioavailability, environmental fate pollutants, determining their potential impacts risks human ecological health. Taking all this into account, literature review was conducted order shed light current knowledge about occurrence tetracycline sulfonamide manures/slurries soils, environment. For that, adsorption/desorption (both abiotic biotic) pollutants soils were deeply discussed. Finally, deleterious effects health associated with presence residues assessed. This contributes deeper understanding lifecycle environment, facilitating decision-making preventive mitigation measures reduce its negative public

Hospitals played vital role in the maintenance and sustenance of human health. However, hospital activities generate high volume toxic solid liquid containing diverse inorganic, organic microbial wastes released untreated into ecosystem. The management wastewater particular has been a major source concern due to presence unregulated emerging micro-pollutants at concentrations range ng/L μg/L. These pollutants low concentration exert different potential health effects on aquatic species. In this review, formation, composition, properties ecotoxicology selected (Norfloxacin, Ofloxacin, Ciprofloxacin, Clofibric acid Carbamazepine) were reviewed. review also elucidates detection quantification micropollutants by Spectrophotometry techniques, Gas Chromatography, Ion Chromatography-Mass spectrometry, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography. Furthermore, treatment through physical, biological, chemical, adsorption advanced oxidation processes such as photocatalysis photo-Fenton including their operational mechanism provided. chemistry degradation several intermediates It was found that conventional methods are not designed for effective removal these because they exist mixtures very exerts toxicological effects. reveals no single technology can effectively detoxify wastewater, instead combination (phototcatalytic/adsorption or photo-fenton/adsorption) most appropriate treatment. Finally, regular monitoring determination physicochemical ecotoxicological parameters recommended.

The overuse of antibiotics in food animals has led to the development bacterial resistance and widespread resistant bacteria world. Antibiotic-resistant (ARB) antibiotic-resistant genes (ARGs) are currently considered emerging contaminants, which a serious threat public health globally. current situation ARB ARGs from animal farms, manure, wastewater was firstly covered this review. Potential risks were also highlighted, as well strategies (including novel technologies, alternatives, administration) fight against resistance. This review can provide an avenue for further research, development, application antibacterial agents reduce adverse effects antibiotic farms.

Bioremediation of organic contaminants has become a major environmental concern in the last few years, due to its bio-resistance and potential accumulate environment. The use diverse technologies, involving chemical physical principles, passive uptake utilizing sorption using ecofriendly substrates have drawn lot interest. Biochar got attention mainly simplicity manufacturing, treatment, disposal, as it is less expensive more efficient material, for remediation contaminants. This review highlighted adverse impact persistent pollutants on environment soil biota. utilization biochar remediate contaminated compounds i.e., pesticides, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, antibiotics, dyes also been discussed. application significant biodegradation, leaching, sorption/desorption influenced by composition structure, porosity, surface area, pH, elemental ratios, functional groups biochar. All above characteristics depend type feedstock pyrolysis conditions. However, concentration nature significantly alters capability Therefore, physicochemical properties soils/wastewater, contaminants, should be evaluated before wastewater. Future initiatives, however, are needed develop biochars with better adsorption capacity, long-term sustainability xenobiotic/organic contaminant strategy.
