Music therapy can help social workers deal with negative behaviors and symptoms of dementia in older adults without drugs or physical restraints, thereby improving the quality care. This study tested effectiveness music activities for agitated behavior living long‐term care institutions. The was quasi‐experimental. Eighty were recruited from two nursing homes. Abstract Aim The present study aimed to determine the impact of group integrative reminiscence therapy on mental health older women living in Iranian nursing home 2016. Design A quasi‐experimental design pre‐ and post‐test was used study. Purposive sampling recruit participants who met criteria. Method statistical population included 60 home, among whom 46 having inclusion criteria were selected as sample. After completing Goldberg's General Health Questionnaire, people divided into intervention ( N = 23) control by using block randomization method. groups trained for 60–90 min 10 sessions, twice a week. Descriptive statistics ANOVA data analysis SPSS software. Results results indicated that significantly affected general physical dimensions, anxiety insomnia, social functions depression.

Previous research has reported an association between life satisfaction, self-esteem, and volunteering. However, it is unclear whether self-esteem associated with satisfaction in older adults who are already engaged Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate were formally volunteering at a non-governmental organization Taiwan. A cross-sectional was conducted on 186 formal volunteers aged ≥ 65 years recruited from Keelung chapter of Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation hierarchical stepwise linear regression used examine scores Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) Rosenberg Self-Esteem (RSES) Hedonic Eudaimonic Motives for Activities-Revised (HEMA-R) scale. The results showed that SWLS significantly RSES score (standardized beta (std. β) = 0.199, p 0.003), eudaimonic subscale HEMA-R β 0.353, < 0.001), vegetarian diet 0.143, 0.027), five days or more week 0.161, 0.011). In conclusion, improving promoting motives could be effective strategies enhancing their levels satisfaction.

Distinguishing late-onset stress symptomatology from posttraumatic stress disorder in older combat veterans DOI

Objective: To assess the discriminant validity of late-onset stress symptomatology (LOSS) in terms its distinction from posttraumatic disorder (PTSD). Method: The LOSS Scale, PTSD Checklist – Civilian Version, and related psychological measures were administered to 562 older male combat veterans via a mailed questionnaire. Analyses focused on: (a) comparing associations with other variables (b) examining hypothesized curvilinear relationship between scores. Results: Compared PTSD, was more strongly associated concerns about retirement less depression, anxiety, sense mastery, satisfaction life. also demonstrated such that positive association diminished at higher levels PTSD. Conclusion: is conceptually statistically normative late-life stressor than but mental health symptoms emotional well-being. Additionally, seems subthreshold it clinically significant present findings support LOSS.
