Introduction: autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and intellectual disability (ID) seem to influence the risk of vulnerability exposure trauma adverse events. While assessment a psychiatric in ASD ID generally is challenging, identification post-traumatic stress (PTSD) seems particularly so, knowledge does not easily accessible. Methods: This article provides systematic review studies describing reactions individuals with both ID, including involving any single case combination ASD, PTSD. To systematically explore PTSD symptom presentation group, all reported symptoms from were assigned by DSM-5 criteria. Results: Eighteen met inclusion criteria, eight group 10 studies. Assessment methodology varied, as did format report. criteria provided useful framework for integrating findings across studies, indicating that may be identified ID. However, alterations arousal negative thought behavior more than reexperiencing avoidance. Conclusions: There an urgent need identify behavioral equivalents this making it possible warning signs abuse even if such incidents are known family or professional carers.

Abstract Background A preponderance of behavioural symptoms is assumed to be the main difference in manifestation post‐traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) people with intellectual disability (ID). However, no study so far has assessed relationship between challenging behaviour (CB) and PTSD. The present aims explore this by exploring whether CB directly related trauma exposure or mediated through core Methods Trauma current PTSD were 43 adults mild moderate ID. Parallel versions administered caregivers, including Aberrant Behaviour Checklist measure CB. Bayesian mediation analyses conducted using self‐rated informant‐rated data. Results self‐report data showed associations symptoms. association irritability was severity frequency informant‐reported subscales hyperactivity inappropriate speech symptom severity. Conclusions should considered as underlying causes CB, highlighting necessity biography improvement assessment ID an important task for future studies.
