Accumulating evidence shows that oxidative stress plays an essential role in the pathogenesis and progression of many diseases. The imbalance between production reactive oxygen species (ROS) antioxidant systems has been extensively studied pulmonary, neurodegenerative cardiovascular disorders; however, its contribution is still debated gastrointestinal disorders. Evidence suggests affects motility obesity, post-infectious disorders by favoring smooth muscle phenotypic switch toward a synthetic phenotype. aim this review to gain insight into played pathologies (GIT), involvement ROS signaling underlying muscular alterations tract (GIT). In addition, potential therapeutic strategies based on use antioxidants for treatment inflammatory diseases are reviewed discussed. Although substantial progress made identifying new techniques capable assessing presence humans, biochemical-molecular mechanisms GIT mucosal not yet well defined. Therefore, further studies needed clarify through which stress-related can contribute alteration mucosa order devise effective preventive curative strategies.

Oxidative stress is an important pathomechanism found in numerous ocular degenerative diseases. To provide a better understanding of the mechanism and treatment oxidant/antioxidant imbalance-induced diseases, this article summarizes provides updates on relevant research. We review oxidative damage (e.g., lipid peroxidation, DNA lesions, autophagy, apoptosis) that occurs different areas eye cornea, anterior chamber, lens, retina, optic nerve). then introduce antioxidant mechanisms present eye, as well diseases occur result imbalances keratoconus, cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma), biomarkers, potential predictive diagnostics. Finally, we discuss natural therapies for stress-related

Plant-based foods are rich sources of vitamins and essential micronutrients. For the proper functioning human body their crucial role, trace minerals (iron, zinc, magnesium, manganese, etc.) required in appropriate amounts. Cereals pulses chief these minerals. Despite minerals, adequate consumption plant cannot fulfill body’s total nutrient requirement. Plant also contain ample amounts anti-nutritional factors such as phytate, tannins, phenols, oxalates, etc. These can compromise bioavailability several micronutrients foods. However, literature reports show that fermentation related processing methods improve mineral In this review, studies to be used micronutrient discussed.

Abstract Hypertension is a global public health issue and the leading cause of premature death in humans. Despite more than century research, hypertension remains difficult to cure due its complex mechanisms involving multiple interactive factors our limited understanding it. condition that named after clinical features. Vascular function factor affects blood pressure directly, it main strategy for clinically controlling BP regulate constriction/relaxation vessels. elasticity, caliber, reactivity are all characteristic indicators reflecting vascular function. Blood vessels composed three distinct layers, out which endothelial cells intima smooth muscle media performers The alterations signaling pathways these key molecular underlying dysfunction development. In this manuscript, we will comprehensively review involved regulation progression, including calcium pathway, NO-NOsGC-cGMP various remodeling some important upstream such as renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, oxidative stress-related immunity/inflammation etc. Meanwhile, also summarize treatment methods targets discuss possibility being applied work.

Background There is a growing acknowledgment of the potential influence antioxidative effects resulting from dietary decisions on occurrence stroke. The objective this study was to elucidate correlation between composite antioxidant index (CDAI) and incidence stroke in general population United States. Methods We gathered cross-sectional data encompassing 40,320 participants National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) spanning years 1999 2018. Employing weighted multivariate logistic regression, we assessed CDAI stroke, while also investigating nonlinear relationships through restricted cubic spline (RCS) regression. Further, intake components were then incorporated into predictive nomogram model, subsequently evaluated for its discriminatory prowess risk assessment using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results Post-adjustment confounding variables, found that higher score associated with decreased odds ratio (OR) [95% CI] associating prevalence 0.96 [0.94-0.98] (P< 0.001). Moreover, adjusted OR across ascending quartiles stood at 0.90 [0.74-1.09], 0.74 [0.60-0.91], 0.61 [0.50-0.76] compared reference quartile, respectively. RCS analysis indicated yet negative constructed based antioxidants, exhibited significant capacity risk, boasting an area under curve (AUC) 77.4% (76.3%–78.5%). Conclusion Our investigation ascertained relationship within broader American population. However, given inherent limitations design, further comprehensive research imperative establish causative nature association.

Abstract Objective Electroacupuncture has been shown to play a neuroprotective role following ischemic stroke, but the underlying mechanism remains poorly understood. Ferroptosis key in injury process. In present study, we wanted explore whether electroacupuncture could inhibit ferroptosis by promoting nuclear factor erythroid-2-related 2 (Nrf2) translocation. Methods The stroke model was established middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion (MCAO/R) adult rats. These rats have randomly divided into EA + MCAO/R group, Brusatol group (the inhibitor of Nrf2), and DMSO Sham group. received intervention 24 h after modeling for 7 consecutive days. behavioral function evaluated Neurologic severity score (NSS), Garcia score, Foot-fault Test, Rotarod Test. infarct volume detected TTC staining, neuronal damage observed Nissl staining. levels Fe 2+ , reactive oxygen species (ROS), superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA) were measured ELISA. immunofluorescence Western blotting used detect expression Total Nrf2, p-Nrf2, Nuclear Cytoplasmic essential proteins, including glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), solute carrier family member 11 (SLC7A11) ferritin heavy chain 1 (FTH1). mitochondria transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Results improved neurological deficits MCAO/R, decreased brain volume, alleviated damage, inhibited ROS, MDA accumulation, increased SOD levels, GPX4, SLC7A11 FTH1, rescued injured mitochondria. Especially, found that up-regulated promoted phosphorylation Nrf2 translocation, However, reversed effect electroacupuncture. Conclusion can alleviate I/R injury-induced It is expected these data will provide novel insights mechanisms protecting against potential targets stroke. Graphical
