Abstract With the rapid growth of aquaculture production since 1980s, there has been a concomitant increase in disease outbreaks. The injudicious and/or incorrect use antimicrobial agents against diseases farmed aquatic species poses considerable threat to development and successful sustainable industry. An resistance (AMR) is an important consequence, resulting difficulty treating common bacterial populations organisms, combined with presence antibiotic residues food fish their products, leading import refusals negative impacts on international trade. To reduce frequency AMR, good effective biosecurity practices should include prudent responsible antibiotics also consider alternatives antibiotics, addition prevention management. This article reviews literature discussing scope problem pertaining use, emergence AMR discuss viable (e.g., vaccination, bacteriophages, quorum quenching, probiotics prebiotics, chicken egg yolk antibody medicinal plant derivative). We lessons learnt, from specific case studies such as vaccination salmon Norway ‘specific pathogen‐free’ seed—as primary essential part strategy.

The importance of the gut microbiome in management various physiological activities including healthy growth and performance fish shellfish is now widely considered being studied detail for potential applications aquaculture farming future industry. all animals associated with a number beneficial functions host, such as stimulating optimal gastrointestinal development, producing supplying vitamins to improving host's nutrient uptake by providing additional enzymatic activities. Besides uptake, involved strengthening immune system maintaining mucosal tolerance, enhancing resilience against infectious diseases, production anticarcinogenic anti-inflammatory compounds. Because its significant role, very often an "extra organ," it plays key role intestinal development regulation other functions. Recent studies suggest that energy homeostasis regulating feeding, digestive metabolic processes, well response. Consequently, deciphering dynamics cultured species will play indispensable promoting animal health productivity. It mentioned community available tract, particularly intestine acts innovative source natural product discovery. microbial communities are several marine organisms products diverse array biological today, more than 1000 new compounds have been reported from species. Exploration ingredients would create opportunities bio-pharma/aquaculture industries. Considering important whole life span shellfish, necessary understand interaction process between host community. However, information pertaining host-microbiome interaction, at cellular level, gene expression, pathways, immunomodulation mechanisms, literature scanty. has there three ways involving host-microbe-environment operates maintain i.e. intrinsic factors, environment shapes composition, core present itself equal influence on biology. In review, efforts made collect comprehensive aspects maintenance, digestion absorption, metabolism shellfish.

Understanding the diversity and function of fish gut microbiomes has advanced substantially, yet many aspects remain poorly understood, particularly interplay among microbiota, host species, environmental factors in context conservation. This review explores composition abundance bacterial communities key aquaculture groups-cyprinids, ictalurids (catfish), salmonids, cichlids (tilapia)-alongside model organism zebrafish, across diverse geographic regions. The findings highlight habitats species as primary determinants microbiome structure, offering a global perspective on these microbial communities. Across all groups, phyla Firmicutes, Fusobacteria, Proteobacteria consistently dominated, while temperate, sub-equatorial, sub-tropical regions exhibited highest diversity, underscoring contribution taxonomic factors. farm-raised shows significant divergence from that wild-caught fish, reflecting impacts ecological management differences. dynamic responses microbiota is vital for guiding conservation efforts, safeguarding aquatic biodiversity, advancing sustainable practices. Future research should leverage innovative techniques integrative approaches, both experimental theoretical, to uncover functional roles predict their changes. Expanding coverage will be critical creating comprehensive framework inform strategies. Collectively, this highlights transformative potential addressing challenges biology.

Abstract Fish microbiome plays an important role in maintaining host homeostasis, with many bacterial functions directly linked to fitness. research is advancing fast, especially the context of aquaculture where several stressors are known disrupt stability host‐associated bacteria, prompting dysbiosis. Therefore, understanding signatures dysbiosis different fish mucosae and their association such fundamental set up efficient health‐monitoring strategies, as well sound objective working hypothesis for future research. Herein, we reviewed studies that employed culture‐independent approaches assess effects disease, chemotherapeutics water quality changes on diversity metrics gut, skin gill microbiomes. We conclude increases abundance potential pathogens community structure reliable indicators fish. The gut emerged being highly susceptible salinity chemotherapeutics, whereas external microbiota seems be more caused by disease temperature changes. Our analysis showed treatments tetracyclines florfenicol likely elicit severe compared quinolones disinfectants cause lesser disturbance microbiome. Bacterial diseases also frequently (enteritis particular), parasitic far less deleterious. Regarding impacts quality, only reasonably studied. Recent developments metagenomics, include a fast turn‐around time results, can used detect homeostasis during critical periods production, assisting management.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the most pressing public health concerns; therefore, it imperative to advance our understanding factors influencing AMR from Global and One Health perspectives. To address this, Aeromonas populations were identified using 16S rRNA gene libraries among human, agriculture, aquaculture, drinking water, surface wastewater samples, supporting its use as indicator bacteria study AMR. A systematic review meta-analysis was then performed perspectives, including data 221 articles describing 15 891 isolates 57 countries. Seaweed, also known as macroalgae, represents a vast resource that can be categorized into three taxonomic groups: Rhodophyta (red), Chlorophyta (green), and Phaeophyceae (brown). They are good source of essential nutrients such proteins, minerals, vitamins, omega-3 fatty acids. Seaweed contains wide range functional metabolites, including polyphenols, polysaccharides, pigments. This study comprehensively discusses seaweed seaweed-derived metabolites their potential feed ingredient in aquafeed for aquaculture production. Past research has discussed the nutritional role promoting growth performance fish, but effects on immune response gut health fish have received considerably less attention published literature. Existing research, however, demonstrated dietary seaweed-based metabolite supplementation positively impact antioxidant status, disease resistance, stress fish. Additionally, promote beneficial bacteria inhibit proliferation harmful bacteria, thereby improving nutrient absorption Nevertheless, an important balance remains between inclusion level resultant metabolic alteration review highlights current state knowledge associated importance continued endeavors regarding modulators growth, response, microbiota composition
