Abstract Pacific white shrimp ( Litopenaeus vannamei ), the most cultured crustacean in world, has become one of key species international aquatic trade accounting for 11.96% total aquaculture production value 2020. The development aquafeed industry, especially large‐scale use fish meal (FM) and oil, contributed to promoting expansion production. However, supply FM fluctuated at about 5 million tons per year affected by El Nino during last decades. This finite combination with continued demand contributes high prices, prompting alternative protein sources. review appropriate replacement strategies feed summarises status research on sources, including plant, animal single‐cell proteins commercial feeds shrimp. Furthermore, several aspects nutritional balances were mentioned amino acid profiles, fatty nutrients trace elements low diets as well some easily overlooked concepts that deserve attention such epigenetics, processing characteristics, growth stages, improvement. Also, prospects future are proposed application advanced technologies (16S rRNA sequencing, transcriptomics, proteomics metabolomics), developments new additives, along optimisation sources establishment a precise programming

Abstract Background Due to its enormous biomass, Antarctic krill ( Euphausia superba ) plays a crucial role in the Ocean ecosystem. In recent years, has found extensive application aquaculture, emerging as sustainable source of aquafeed with ideal nutritional profiles. However, comprehensive study focused on detailed effects dietary aquaculture animals, especially farmed marine fishes, is yet be demonstrated. Results this study, comparative experiment was performed using juvenile P. leopardus , fed diets supplemented (the group) or without control group). Histological observation revealed that could reduce lipid accumulation liver while intestine exhibited no obvious changes. Enzyme activity measurements demonstrated had an inhibitory effect oxidative stress both and liver. By transcriptome analysis, total 1,597 1,161 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified liver, respectively. Functional analysis DEGs showed multiple enriched terms significantly related cholesterol metabolism, antioxidants, immunity. Furthermore, expression profiles representative DEGs, such dhcr7 apoa4 sc5d scarf1 validated by qRT-PCR fluorescence situ hybridization. Finally, demonstrate biased astaxanthin . Conclusions Our enhance antioxidant capacities exhibit molecular-level improvements immunity, antioxidants. It will contribute understanding protective provide insights into strategies.

Aquaculture production has been growing consistently over the last few decades to meet increasing animal protein demand of human population. However, increased and rearing intensities raise challenges guaranteeing fish health welfare, which is essential avoid losses ensure product quality. Biomarkers can provide insights into fish’s nutritional, physiological, status, aid in evaluation early nutritional physiological imbalances, distress conditions, pathological diagnosis. The discovery validation biomarkers rely mostly on use information provided by different parameters, including biochemical, metabolic, or immunologic, as well several omics, from genomics transcriptomics proteomics metabolomics. In this review, a summary main used aquaculture along with an overview omics technologies available for further biomarker research. To investigate the effect of tannic acid (TA) on growth, disease resistance, and intestinal health Chinese soft-shelled turtles, individual turtles were fed with 0 g/kg (CG), 0.5 g/kg, 1 2 4 TA diets for 98 days. Afterwards, turtles’ resistance was tested using Aeromonas hydrophila. The results showed that 0.5–4 dietary increased growth performance feed utilization (p < 0.05), 2.38 being optimal level specific rate (SGR). addition in mucosal fold height submucosa thickness small intestine, which reached a maximum g/kg. 0.5–2 effectively reduced cumulative mortality had been induced by A. hydrophila, dosage leading to lowest mortality. Additionally, 1–4 improved T-SOD, CAT, GSH-Px activities during infection, while enhanced richness diversity microbiota, example, increasing Actinobacteria but inhibiting Firmicutes. transcriptome demonstrated predominant differentially expressed genes (DEGs) TA2 mainly enriched PPAR signaling pathway (Acsl5, Apoa2, Apoa5, Fabp1, Fabp2, Fabp6); glycine, serine, threonine metabolism (Chdh, Gatm, Shmt1); steroid biosynthesis (Cel, Hsd17b7, Soat2, Sqle). main metabolites (DEMs) discovered means metabolome analysis included cholylhistidine, calcipotriol, 13-O-tetradecanoylphorbol 12-acetate, hexahomomethionine CG vs. TA2. Integrative analyses two omics revealed mitigated inflammation activating regulating lipid via multiple pathways, such as α-linolenic metabolism. In general, inclusion turtle can optimally promote bacterial maintaining improving antioxidant capacity.
