The characteristics of human aging manifest in tissue and organ function decline, heightening susceptibility to age-related ailments, thereby presenting novel challenges fostering sustaining healthy longevity. In recent years, an abundance research on has surfaced. Intriguingly, evidence suggests a pervasive correlation among gut microbiota, bodily functions, chronic diseases. From infancy later stages adulthood, individuals witness dynamic shifts microbiota composition. This microbial community is associated with deterioration (e.g., brain, bones, muscles, immune system, vascular system) heightened risk Thus, we present narrative review the microbiome both unhealthy contexts. Additionally, explore potential for adjustments physical health based analysis how targeting can potentially slow down process.

Over the last decades, analysis of complex microbial communities by high-throughput sequencing marker gene amplicons has become routine work for many research groups. However, main challenges faced scientists who want to make use generated datasets are lack expertise select a suitable pipeline and need bioinformatics or programming skills apply it. Here, we present MetaXplore, an interactive, user-friendly platform that enables discovery visualization amplicon data. Currently, it provides set well-documented choices downstream analysis, including alpha beta diversity taxonomic composition, differential abundance identification core microbiome within population, biomarker analysis. These features presented in format facilitates easy customization generation publication-quality graphics. MetaXplore is implemented entirely R language using Shiny framework. It can be easily used locally on any system with installed, Windows, Mac OS, most Linux distributions, remotely via web server without bioinformatic expertise. also as framework advanced users modify expand tool.

Abstract Despite growing interest in fungal necromass decomposition due to its importance soil carbon retention, whether a consistent group of microorganisms is associated with decomposing remains unresolved. Here, we synthesize knowledge on the composition bacterial and communities present from variety species, geographic locations, habitats, incubation times. We found that there core both genera (i.e. necrobiome), although specific size depended definition. Based metric included microbial frequency abundance, demonstrate taxonomically functionally diverse, including copiotrophs oligotrophs as well saprotrophs, ectomycorrhizal fungi, animal parasites. also show necrobiome notably dynamic over time, many having associations early, middle, or late stages decomposition. While this study establishes existence necrobiome, advocate profiling decomposer tropical environments other terrestrial biomes beyond forests needed fill key gaps regarding global nature necrobiome.

Abstract Gut microbiota, or the collection of diverse microorganisms in a specific ecological niche, are known to significantly impact human health. Decreased gut microbiota production short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) has been implicated type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) disease progression. Most microbiome studies focus on ethnic majorities. This study aims understand how differs between an majority (the Dutch) and minority South-Asian Surinamese (SAS)) group with lower higher prevalence T2DM, respectively. Microbiome data from Healthy Life Urban Setting (HELIUS) cohort were used. Two age- gender-matched groups compared: Dutch (n = 41) SAS 43). Microbial community compositions generated via DADA2. Metrics microbial diversity similarity computed. Biomarker analyses performed determine discriminating taxa. Bacterial co-occurrence networks constructed examine patterns. Abstract The degradation of freshwater systems by salt pollution is a threat to global resources. Salinization commonly identified increased specific conductance (conductivity), proxy for concentrations. However, conductivity fails account the diversity salts entering freshwaters and potential implications this has on microbial communities functions. We tested 4 types pollution—MgCl 2 , MgSO NaCl, Na SO —on bacterial taxonomic functional α‐, β‐diversity originating from streams in two distinct localities (Nebraska [NE] Ohio [OH], USA). Community responses depended site origin, with NE OH exhibiting more pronounced decreases community response MgCl than other amendments. A closer examination metrics suggests that core features are resistant induced stress marginal at both population level likely exhibit significant structural shifts based specificity. lack uniformity highlights need consider compositional complexities salinization accurately identify ecological consequences instances pollution.
