Wrought with one crisis after another -- the COVID-19 pandemic, worldwide civil unrest in response to police murders of Black people U.S., and a highly volatile election season, year 2020 arose level what Boin (2019) calls transboundary an event that exceeds "geographical, policy, cultural, public- private, legal boundaries." Abstract This article presents outcomes from a critical interpretive synthesis inquiry exploring whether community music can contribute to more equitable societies. Drawing on 74 cross-disciplinary articles, we identify equity-related across three key categories: improve the immediate wellbeing and life trajectories for individuals experiencing disadvantage; relating development of skills, knowledge understandings empowering individual participants enact positive social change within their communities; with potential affect root causes inequity. review provides solid foundation further conceptual theoretical beyond fields justice research music. Abstract Much previous international research has demonstrated links between general school attainment and active engagement with music. The reported here compared the change in examination outcomes English mathematics national examinations at ages 11 16 of instrumentalists non-instrumentalists. Data from 701 pupils showed statistically significant differences non-instrumentalists, which was also related to duration learning instrument played. Μusicians are reported to have enhanced auditory processing. This study aimed assess perception in Greek musicians with respect their musical specialization and compare processing that of non-musicians. Auditory elements evaluated were speech recognition babble, rhythmic advantage recognition, short-term working memory, temporal resolution, frequency discrimination threshold detection. Abstract This study investigated whether enhanced rhythm training improves literacy development and working memory performance in pupils the first second year of school. According to recent literature, we hypothesized that rhythm-focused could be effective for children with reading difficulties.
