Abstract
Purpose
Alaska
Native
(AN)
youth
living
in
remote
suffer
disproportionately
from
suicide
when
compared
to
all
other
American
youth.
Promoting
Community
Conversations
About
Research
End
Suicide
(PC
CARES)
is
an
intervention
led
by
trained
community
facilitators,
which
shares
scientific
best
practices
prevent
with
adults
spark
feasible,
culturally
tailored
personal
and
collective
action.

training

facilitators
implement
PC
CARES
their
home
communities
late
2019,
COVID‐19
precluded
in‐person
activities,

explored
state-level
indicators

structural
racism

to
students
without
bans.

White
living

severe
disenfranchisement

convicted
felonies
lower
self-derogation
(odds
ratio
[OR],
0.89;
95%
CI,
0.78-1.02)

less
disenfranchisement.

findings
demonstrate

Guided
by
the
Interpersonal
Theory
of
Suicide
(IPTS),
this
study
aims
to
understand
applicability
constructs
belongingness
and
burdensomeness
their
relevance

risk

ethnocultural
minoritized
youth.

Black
