“Leaving the place behind, better than before” is regenerative state-of-mind approach to reset, rethink and move forward, beyond sustainable tourism. Despite growing global attention, empirical evidence supporting tourism developments through travel remains extremely rare. Moreover, rampant incidents of travel-shaming across destinations undermine foreign tourist attractiveness, ultimately affecting residents’ support for developments. Drawing on attention restoration theory and social exchange theory, this study investigates how person–environment interaction (destination fascination) interpersonal (resident–tourist interaction) affect immersion in rural tourism lead to destination attachment word of mouth. A holistic model was developed which served as a mediator. Data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA). Findings showed that fascination resident–tourist both contributed immersion, influenced tourists’ recommendation intentions. Results also clarified the mediating role immersion. The fsQCA results revealed several distinctive configurations resulting high levels outcome variables. This enriches literature by validating scale context providing deeper understanding Practical implications for marketers are discussed well.

Does Sincere Social Interaction Stimulate Tourist Immersion? A Conservation of Resources Perspective DOI

Drawing on conservation of resources (COR) theory, this study examines how and when sincere social interaction affects tourist immersion at the destination. We develop a moderated mediation model in which emotional solidarity mediates relationship between immersion, while extraversion moderates link solidarity. Data were collected from 391 tourists via an online survey analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings indicate that directly influences is mediated by Furthermore, significantly effects solidarity, effect stronger for with high scores. Additionally, strengthens indirect again, highly extraverted tourists.

Destination image influences tourists’ perceptions and opinions of destinations plays a crucial role in tourist behavior travel-purchase-related decisions. This study summarizes reviews 151 pieces literature on destination published six major international hospitality tourism academic journals the last decade (January 2012–February 2022). By combing through literature, we found that research previous has focused following four areas: (1) structure image; (2) measurement branding image, (3) influencing factors (4) influence behavioral intentions. These results revealed clarified latest dynamics. The findings provide an all-encompassing understanding illustrate evolution topic, point to directions for future research.
