The guanine/cytosine (GC) content of prokaryotic genomes is species-specific, taking values from 16% to 77%. This diversity selection for GC remains contentious. Despite GC variation constitutes a fundamental element of genome and species diversity, the precise mechanisms driving it remain unclear. The abundant sequence data available for ITS2, commonly employed phylogenetic marker in plants, offers an exceptional resource exploring across angiosperms.A comprehensive selection 8666 species, comprising 165 genera, 63 families, 30 orders were used analyses. alignment ITS2 sequence-structures partitioning secondary structures into paired unpaired regions performed using 4SALE. Substitution rates frequencies among base-pairs calculated RNA-specific models PHASE package. results showed that distribution contents on angiosperm phylogeny was heterogeneous, but their increase generally associated with homogenization, thereby supporting occurrence GC-biased gene conversion (gBGC) during concerted evolution ITS2. Additionally, content structure significantly higher than regions, indicating thermodynamic stability. Furthermore, RNA substitution demonstrated base-pair transformations favored both elevation fixation providing further support gBGC.Our findings highlight significance investigation, which demonstrate gBGC structure-based are influential factors content.
