Insulin resistance (IR) has been reported to be associated with aging; however, few studies have investigated the relationship between IR and biological age (BA). The Triglyceride–glucose (TyG) index is a recognized marker of IR. Currently, there insufficient evidence regarding TyG aging. This study aims provide deeper insights into connections We conducted cross-sectional using data from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), including 12,074 adults (aged 20 older) 2001–2010 2015–2018 cycles. Comprehensive BA were extracted for analysis. To explore BA, linear regressions employed, while logistic regression models used examine association accelerated Additionally, trend tests, subgroup analyses, smoothed fitted curves assess robustness findings. included participants mean 46.91 years (SD, 16.64); these, 50.25% female 49.75% male. The study aimed to assess the association of five insulin resistance surrogates, namely HOMA-β (Homeostasis Model Assessment Beta-cell Function), QUICKI (Quantitative Insulin Sensitivity Check Index), IGR (Insulin Glucose Ratio), e-IS (Estimated Sensitivity), and Bennett ISI(Bennett's sensitivity index) with all-cause cardiovascular mortality in respondents metabolic syndrome(MetS). prospective cohort 6662 participants aged 18 years older syndrome was extracted from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey(NHANES 1999–2016). multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression model, Kaplan-Meier survival curve, log-rank tests were applied determine between indices MetS population. Restricted cubic splines, a two-piece segmented threshold effect analyses performed evaluate nonlinear relationship. then conducted by removing individuals CKD, CHF, CAD, stroke, or cancer, respectively. All (IR) surrogates displayed negative syndrome. spline curves showed QUICKI, IGR, had relationship statistical significance. population at highest quartile exhibited lower event probabilities compared those lowest quartile, similar correlation events. Threshold that there inflection points for mortality. As gradually approached points, two types risks descended 15%[HR 0.85(0.80,0.91)] 19%[HR 0.81(0.71,0.92)], analysis indicated most results robust, but ISI did not exhibit significant outcomes without CKD. Our provides evidence HOMA-β, e-IS, reverse IR should be given more attention during follow-up

Abstract Background The Triglyceride Glucose-Body Mass Index (TyG-BMI) has been established as a robust indicator of insulin resistance (IR), reflecting metabolic health across various populations. In general, lower TyG-BMI values are often associated with better outcomes and reduced risk adverse events in non-critically ill Previous studies have highlighted significant negative association between all-cause mortality (ACM) among critically atrial fibrillation patients. Given the high prevalence severe stroke, understanding how at time ICU admission correlates ACM stroke patients becomes imperative. This study aims to assess correlation this specific patient cohort, exploring traditional associations may differ context acute, life-threatening illness. Methods Patient data were retrieved by accessing Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV (MIMIC-IV 2.2) database, categorizing into three groups on basis tertiles. evaluated both primary secondary outcomes: included 90-day, 180-day, 1-year ACM, while encompassed ICU, in-hospital, 30-day ACM.
