Abstract Gram-negative bacteria produce outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) that play a critical role in cell-cell communication and virulence. Despite being isolated from single population of bacteria, OMVs can exhibit heterogeneous size toxin content, which be obscured by assays measure ensemble properties. To address this issue, we utilize fluorescence imaging individual to reveal size-dependent sorting. Our results showed the oral bacterium Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (A . ) produces with bimodal distribution, where larger were much more likely possess leukotoxin (LtxA). Among smallest (< 100 nm diameter), fraction are positive ranges 0-30%, while largest (> 200 diameter) between 70-100% positive. OMV method provides non-invasive way observe surface heterogeneity at nanoscale level determine size-based heterogeneities without need for separation.

Conventional cancer therapies have many limitations. In the last decade, it has been suggested that bacteria-mediated immunotherapy may circumvent restrictions of traditional treatments. For example, Salmonella enterica is most promising bacteria for treating due to its intrinsic abilities, such as killing tumor cells, targeting, penetrating, and proliferating into tumor. S. genetically modified ensure safety increase antitumor efficacy. This bacterium used a vector delivering anticancer agents combination therapy with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or photothermic. Recent studies reported efficacy outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) derived from . OMVs are considered safer than attenuated can stimulate immune system they comprise immunogens found on surface their parent bacteria. Furthermore, also be nanocarriers agents. review describes advances in against mechanisms by which fights cancer. We highlight use innovative strategies requiring further investigation.

In bacteria, the cell envelope is key element surrounding and protecting bacterial content from mechanical or osmotic damages. It allows selective interchanges of solutes, ions, cellular debris, drugs between compartments external environment, thanks to presence transmembrane proteins called transporters. The major component peptidoglycan, consisting long linear glycan strands cross-linked by short peptide stems. During growth under stress conditions, peptidoglycan fragments, muropeptides, are released bacteria recognized host Pattern Recognition Receptor, promoting activation their innate defense mechanisms. review sums up salient aspects microbiota-host interaction with a focus on NOD-dependent immune response accountability muropeptide transporters in crosstalk antibiotic resistance. Abstract Targeting gut flora to lower sickness risk is a growing scientific subject. The intricate network of microorganisms (gut microbiota) in the human intestines regulates many physiological systems and may be important for general health. Recent research has shown dynamic relationship between microbiota central nervous system (CNS). Dysbiosis key establishing progressing diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders. Recently, extracellular vesicles (GMEVs) have been suggested as brain‐gut communication carriers. Vesicle components contact immune receptors, initiating neuroinflammatory responses causing diseases. This study seeks explain how its cause or worsen We also highlighted recent advances our understanding these GMEVs' cargo's routes, which could used drug delivery treatments. examines current state potential therapeutic effects GMEVs on illnesses.
