Infectious diseases, including COVID-19, are crucial public health issues and may lead to considerable fear among the general stigmatization of, discrimination against, specific populations. This meta-analysis aimed estimate pooled prevalence of stigma in infectious disease epidemics. We systematically searched PubMed, PsycINFO, Embase, MEDLINE, Web Science, Cochrane databases since inception June 08, 2021, reported towards people with diseases SARS, H1N1, MERS, Zika, Ebola, COVID-19. A total 50 eligible articles were included that contributed 51 estimates 92722 participants. The overall across all populations was 34% [95% CI: 28−40%], enacted (36% 28−44%]) perceived (31% 22−40%]). patients, community population, care workers, 38% 12− 65%], 36% 28−45%], 30% 20−40%], respectively. participants from low- middle-income countries 37% 29−45%], which is higher than high-income (27% 18−36%]) though this difference not statistically significant. similar trend also observed individuals lower education (47% 23−71%]) compared level (33% 23−4%]). These findings indicate a significant concern, effective comprehensive interventions needed counteract damaging effects infodemics during epidemics, reduce disease-related stigma.

Objective This study investigates the trends of suicide and self-harm in Nanjing, China, through 4 years data collection, aiming to provide valuable information for developing effective prevention strategies. Methods descriptive analyzed Nanjing Emergency Medical Center (NEMC) ambulance records from (2018–2022) investigate events. Out 689,305 records, 4,261 cases were included after exclusions. The categorized incidents into 4,103 events 158 cases. Descriptive statistics content analysis conducted identify characteristics themes related these events, with age groups defined according American Association standards. Results highlights drug poisoning as leading method, accounting 63.56% It notes significant by age, gender, season, males showing higher rates self-harm. emphasizes need targeted strategies, particularly focusing on drug-related suicides among adults adolescents, well prevalence various self-harming behaviors. Conclusion To reduce suicide, interventions must be strengthened women, who experience rates. Key strategies include regulating pesticides psychotropic drugs, increasing access mental health resources, launching community awareness campaigns. Additionally, training healthcare providers promoting family education can enhance support women facing challenges.

Abstract The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has caused large-scale economic and social losses worldwide deaths. Although most COVID-19 patients have initially complained of respiratory insufficiency, the presence neuropsychiatric manifestations is also reported frequently, ranging from headache, hyposmia/anosmia, neuromuscular dysfunction to stroke, seizure, encephalopathy, altered mental status, psychiatric disorders, both in acute phase long term. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, a major public health crisis, harms individuals' mental health. This 3-wave repeated survey aimed to examine the prevalence and correlates of suicidal ideation at different stages COVID-19 pandemic in large sample college students China.Using cross-sectional design, we conducted 3 online surveys during 22 universities Guandong, China. were outbreak period (T1: February 10 2020, N = 164,101), remission (T2: 24 March April 148,384), normalized prevention control (T3: 1 June 15 159,187). Suicidal was measured by ninth item Patient Health Questionnaire-9. A range suicide-related factors assessed, including sociodemographic characteristics, depression, anxiety, insomnia, pre-existing problems, COVID-19-related factors.The 8.5%, 11.0% 12.6% T1, T2, T3, respectively. Male sex (aOR: 1.35-1.44, Ps < 0.001), poor self-perceived 2.25-2.81, diseases 1.52-2.09, P prior psychological counseling 1.23-1.37, 0.01), negative perception risk epidemic 1.14-1.36, depressive symptoms 2.51-303, 0.001) anxiety 1.62-101.11, associated with an increased ideation.Suicidal appeared increase among Multiple factors, especially are ideation. Psychosocial interventions should be implemented after reduce suicide students.
