Phloroglucinol
and
derived
compounds
comprise
a
huge
class
of
secondary
metabolites
widely
distributed
in
plants
brown
algae.
A
vast
array
biological
activities,
including
antioxidant,
anti-inflammatory,
antimicrobial,
anticancer
has
been
associated
to
this
compounds.
In
review,
the
available
data
on
antiviral
antibacterial
capacity
phloroglucinols
have
analyzed.
Some
these
derivatives
show
important
antimicrobial
properties
vitro.
Phloroglucinols
shown
be
effective
against
viruses,
such
as
human
immunodeficiency
virus
(HIV),
herpes
or
enterovirus,
preliminary
through
docking
analysis
suggest
that
they
can
SARS-CoV-19.
Also,
some
effects
diverse
bacteria
strains,
Bacillus
subtilis
Staphylococcus
aureus,
(semi)synthetic

microbes,
giving
insight
into
