Phloroglucinol and derived compounds comprise a huge class of secondary metabolites widely distributed in plants brown algae. A vast array biological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anticancer has been associated to this compounds. In review, the available data on antiviral antibacterial capacity phloroglucinols have analyzed. Some these derivatives show important antimicrobial properties vitro. Phloroglucinols shown be effective against viruses, such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), herpes or enterovirus, preliminary through docking analysis suggest that they can SARS-CoV-19. Also, some effects diverse bacteria strains, Bacillus subtilis Staphylococcus aureus, (semi)synthetic development novel led with significantly increased activity. However, therapeutic use is hindered by absence vivo studies scarcity information their mechanisms action, hence further research efforts are required. On basis consideration, our work aims gather regarding efficacy natural-occurring synthetic phloroglucinol agents pathogens, which published during last three decades. The recollection results reported review represents valuable source updated will potentially help researchers agents.

Over the past decades, human impacts have changed structure of tropical benthic reef communities towards coral depletion and macroalgal proliferation. However, how these changes modified chemical microbial waterscapes is poorly known. Here, we assessed experimental removal assemblages influences composition two boundary layers, momentum. Chemical were spatially structured, both horizontally vertically, according to dominance layers. Microbes associated with degradation enriched in layers surrounding macroalgal-dominated substrata. Dominant macroalgae surrounded by a distinct pool diverse lipid classes (e.g., diterpenoids glycerolipids) labile organic matter organooxygen compounds), which diffused from algal tissues their polarity. Finally, our results highlighted strong co-variations between specific algal-derived metabolites planktonic microbes, giving insight into roles functioning resilience.

Currently, marine algae are still an under-exploited natural bioresource of bioactive compounds. Seaweeds represent a sustainable source for obtaining compounds that can be useful the fabrication new active products with biomedical benefits and applications as biomedicinals nutraceuticals. The objective this review is to highlight scientific papers identify biocompounds from macroalgae emphasize their benefits. method used was data analysis systematize information various in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, research results demonstrate multiple uses seaweeds. As seaweeds rich sources like polysaccharides, protein compounds, pigments, polyphenols, which have demonstrated pharmacological activities such antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, anticoagulant, potentially anticarcinogenic effects. Seaweed has gained recognition functional food offers unique set promote body health, including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants. In conclusion, importance expand possibilities utilizing resources by broadening areas human health

Diseases such as obesity; cardiovascular diseases high blood pressure, myocardial infarction and stroke; digestive celiac disease; certain types of cancer osteoporosis are related to food. On the other hand, world’s population increases, ability current food production system produce consistently is at risk. As a result, intensive agriculture has contributed climate change major environmental impact. Research is, therefore, needed find new sustainable sources. One most promising sources raw materials macroalgae. Algae crucial solving this nutritional deficiency because they abundant in bioactive substances that have been shown combat hyperglycemia, diabetes, obesity, metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases. Examples these include polysaccharides alginate, fucoidan, agar carrageenan; proteins phycobiliproteins; carotenoids β-carotene fucoxanthin; phenolic compounds; vitamins minerals. Seaweed already considered nutraceutical since it higher protein values than legumes soy becoming increasingly common. compounds extracted from seaweed used industry thickening agents stabilizers improve quality final product extend its shelf life; also demonstrated antidiabetic effects. Among present macroalgae, compounds, pigments, fatty acids stand out due their different properties, antidiabetics, antimicrobials antioxidants, which important treatment or control cholesterol, hyperglycemia That said, there some studies macroalgae (red, green brown) incorporated into foods, but on gluten-free products still scarce, only potential use for type considered. Considering aforementioned issues, review aims analyze how can be foods supplement, well describe contain, beneficial properties human health. In way, macroalgae-based eminent diseases, disease, more common diabetes cholesterol complications, seen.

Abiotic and biotic stress factors negatively influence the growth, yield, nutritional value of economically important food feed crops. These climate-change-induced factors, together with ever-growing human population, compromise sustainable security for all consumers across world. Agrochemicals are widely used to increase crop yield by improving plant growth enhancing their tolerance factors; however, there has been a shift towards natural compounds in recent years due detrimental effect associated these agrochemicals on crops ecosystem. In view these, use phenolic biostimulants as opposed artificial fertilizers gained significant momentum production. Seaweeds marine organisms excellent sources that useful downstream agricultural applications such promoting resilience against various conditions. this review, we highlight different present seaweed, compare extraction methods, describe agriculture.

Chronic, low-grade inflammation is linked to the development of non-communicable diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, obesity, insulin resistance, diabetes, and others which together contribute more than 50% deaths globally. Modulation inflammatory responses may be a promising strategy, n-3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 LC-PUFA) offer new therapeutic option in conditions. Seaweeds are characterised by high nutritional quality good source many bioactive compounds, LC-PUFA. This review addresses potential anti-inflammatory properties seaweed derived lipids, their immunomodulating mechanisms order identify possible applications as an functional food ingredient or dietary supplement. A few studies have evaluated activity lipids using crude lipid extracts, fractions isolated complex from several seaweeds belonging Ochrophyta Rhodophyta phyla, with only three Ulva rigida, sp. Codium tomentosum within Chlorophyta phylum. It was reported that suppress inducible nitric oxide synthase cyclooxygenase-2 expression reduce nuclear factor κB p100 myeloid differentiation primary response 88 protein levels leading downregulation production pro-inflammatory cytokines oxide. Besides being the most notable classes compounds found in macroalgae, phlorotannins, bromophenols, and terpenoids comprise some relevant for their Phlorotannins, mainly prevalent brown algae structurally characterized complex polyphenolic derived from phloroglucinol units, possess robust antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, cytotoxic activities, modulated by factors such degree polymerization environmental conditions. Bromophenols, halogenated other marine organisms, exhibit significant antioxidant antiviral Their diverse structures bromination patterns contribute to potential therapeutic chemical defense agents. Pigments (chemically described primary terpenoids) play critical role light absorption energy transfer macroalgae divided into three main groups: (i) carotenoids, primarily provide photoprotective benefits; (ii) chlorophylls, facilitating conversion energy; (iii) phycobilins, mostly red important roles transfer, besides providing remarkable health benefits. Finally, secondary terpenoids, particularly (e.g., Rhodomelaceae family) central cellular interactions antimicrobial, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory This study represents detailed analysis biosynthesis, structural diversity, activities these metabolites, emphasizing
