Abstract The large number of different analytical choices researchers use may be partly responsible for the replication challenge in neuroimaging studies. For robustness analysis, knowledge full space options is essential. We conducted a systematic literature review to identify decisions functional data preprocessing and analysis emerging field cognitive network neuroscience. found 61 steps, with 17 them having debatable options. Scrubbing, global signal regression, spatial smoothing are among controversial steps. There no standardized order which steps applied, within several vary widely across By aggregating pipelines studies, we propose three taxonomic levels categorize choices: 1) inclusion or exclusion specific 2) distinct sequencing 3) parameter tuning To facilitate access data, developed decision support app high educational value called METEOR, allows explore as reference well-informed (multiverse) analysis. Highlights Data variability hinders replicability. Analysis multiple defensible examines results. identified 102 performing graph-fMRI Interactive visualization these available Shiny app.

To determine the precise link between anatomical structure and function, brain studies primarily concentrate on wiring of its topological properties. In this work, we investigate weighted degree connection length distributions KKI-113 KKI-18 human connectomes, fruit fly, mouse retina. We find that node strength (weighted degree) distribution behavior differs depending considered scale. On global scale, are found to follow a power-law behavior, with roughly universal exponent close 3. However, breaks at local scale as stretched exponential, fly retina log-normal distribution, respectively, which indicative underlying random multiplicative processes underpins nonlocality learning in critical state. for case H01 (1mm3) datasets, an exponentially truncated power law, may hint fact mechanism have manifested level too. Abstract Healthy aging is associated with a heterogeneous decline across cognitive functions, typically observed between language comprehension and production (LP). Examining resting‐state fMRI neuropsychological data from 628 healthy adults (age 18–88) the CamCAN cohort, we performed state‐of‐the‐art graph theoretical analysis to uncover neural mechanisms underlying this variability. At level, our findings suggest that LP not an isolated function but modulated throughout lifespan by extent of inter‐cognitive synergy semantic domain‐general processes. cerebral show default mode network (DMN) suppression coupled fronto‐parietal (FPN) integration way for brain compensate effects dedifferentiation at minimal cost, efficiently mitigating age‐related in LP. In the adult brain, structural and functional parameters, such as synaptic sizes neuronal firing rates, follow right-skewed heavy-tailed distributions. While this organization is thought to have significant implications, its development still largely unknown. Here, we address knowledge gap by investigating a large-scale dataset recorded from prefrontal cortex olfactory bulb of mice aged 4–60 postnatal days. We show that rates spike train interactions stable distribution shape throughout first 60 days displays small-world architecture. Moreover, early brain activity exhibits an oligarchical organization, where high-firing neurons hub-like properties. neural network model, analogously parameters are instrumental consistently recapitulate experimental data. Thus, in developing already extremely distributed, suggesting preconfigured not experience dependent.
