Hydrocarbon fuel biofouling and biocorrosion require expensive cleanup of aviation infrastructures unless appropriate sustainment measures are applied. The identification novel biological control agents offers promising alternatives to the current chemical biocides used in sustainment. In this study, 496 microbial isolates from our in-house repository were screened identify new endogenously produced antimicrobial compounds. Using agar plug screening, liquid culture growth testing, Jet A assays, two fuel-isolate strains Pseudomonas protegens #133, Bacillus subtilis #232 demonstrated biocontrol activity against bacteria, yeast, filamentous fungi. Liquid chromatography-quadrupole time flight tandem mass spectrometry (LC-QTOF-MS/MS) filtrate identified several common lipopeptide antimicrobials including gageostatin C, gageopeptin B, miscellaneous macrolactins. contrast, LC-QTOF-MS/MS siderophore pyochelin as one predominant compounds #133 with previously effect. consortium testing flow-cytometry live/dead cell mechanism determination action Gram-positive bacteria. study concludes that secreted by have bactericidal effects Gordonia sp. cause death through bacterial lysis membrane damage potential applications biocidal treatment hydrocarbon-based fuels.

Soil salinization poses a significant challenge to global agriculture, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions like Xinjiang. Kalidium schrenkianum, halophytic plant adapted saline-alkaline conditions, harbors endophytic microorganisms with potential growth-promoting properties. In this study, 177 bacterial strains were isolated from K. 11 key identified through functional screening based on salt tolerance, nutrient solubilization, traits. Synthetic microbial communities (SMCs) then constructed using these optimized enhance wheat growth under stress. The SMCs significantly improved seed germination, root length, seedling vigor both spring winter hydroponic pot experiments. Furthermore, the enhanced activities of antioxidant enzymes, including superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT), levels malondialdehyde (MDA) proline (PRO). They also reduced oxidative stress chlorophyll content seedlings. These results demonstrate consortia derived extreme environments as eco-friendly biofertilizers for improving crop performance saline soils, offering sustainable alternative chemical fertilizers contributing agricultural resilience productivity.

Abstract The increasing demand for natural alternatives to synthetic fungicides has prompted research into products like essential oils postharvest disease management. This study investigated the antifungal, antioxidant, cytotoxic, and genotoxic potential of oil mixtures derived from oregano, rosemary, mint against Penicillium digitatum , predominant fungal pathogen causing green mold in orange fruits. P. NPAGRASU 2024 was isolated identified as most abundant species (60.2%) infected oranges. It deposited GenBank with gene accession number PP930644 MIRCEN culture collection EMCC 358874. antimicrobial activity individual evaluated, oregano exhibiting highest antifungal (inhibition zone diameter 4.2 cm) . L-optimal mixture design response surface methodology (RSM) optimization revealed a highly effective (Run 8) comprising 46.26% 53.74% 99.65% actual growth reduction. demonstrated potent antioxidant activity, reaching approximately 75% DPPH radical scavenging at 3.125 mg/mL. Cytotoxicity assessment using MTT assay showed morphological changes reduced cell viability liver cells treated PEOs 300 µg/mL. However, optimized did not induce significant chromosomal aberrations compared control, suggesting minimal effects. In vivo, evaluation on oranges 60% inhibition by 1% (v/v) 7 days. Histological analysis indicated low toxicity tested concentration (1% mixture). GC-MS major compounds cavarcol, caryophyllene, eucalyptol, phenols levomenthol oil, contributing its bioactivities. demonstrates eco-friendly control.

Background and Objective: Peatlands are unique ecosystems rich in microbial diversity, including bacteria with potential antibiotic activity. This study focuses on the isolation characterization of from Indonesian peat soil, particularly their to produce antibiotics against multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens, Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Materials Methods: Bacterial isolates were rejuvenated nutrient agar subjected antimicrobial activity testing using Bauer & Kirby diffusion method MRSA. The bacterial strain exhibiting strongest was further analyzed 16S rRNA sequencing for genetic identification. Phylogenetic analysis performed NCBI BLAST, followed by a statistical comparison inhibition zones assess efficacy. Results: Antimicrobial revealed that isolate 10 PS exhibited larger zone MRSA than positive control, Ampicillin, indicating its strong potential. confirmed belonged Lysinibacillus genus, though significant branch divergence suggested it may represent novel species. isolate's lack endospore production, typically characteristic alongside peatland ecosystem, suggests adaptations environmental pressures. Conclusion: These findings highlight soil as valuable source antibiotics, MDR pathogens like proposed new species, (cataloged SUB14736623), expands taxonomic knowledge holds promise developing natural treatments.
