Clinical implications There remains a lack high-quality intervention cancer, there is wide range approaches managing these conditions, large heterogeneity populations examined methodologies used. Specific designed patient public engagement that tailor particular under investigation are required.

Abstract Background Chronic lymphocytic leukemia is the most prevalent adult leukemia. The disease incurable with a cycling of treatment and relapse common. Little known about psychological physical functioning patients relapsed/refractory chronic Cancer-specific stress an important individual difference variable that predicts outcomes. Purpose To examine cancer-specific at initiation as predictor trajectories in during first 5 months treatment. Methods Patients (N = 152) enrolled phase II clinical trial completed self-report measures (baseline), 1, 2, baseline was examined (cognitive-affective depressive symptoms, negative mood, mental health quality life) (fatigue interference, sleep problems, life), controlling for demographic variables. Results Using multilevel modeling, higher related to worse problems) more rapid improvements next months. Despite these improvements, remained associated poorer 5-month psychological, though not physical, functioning. Conclusions Findings suggest may be risk factor

Traumatic experiences are not unusual in pediatric heart transplant (HT) recipients before and after transplantation. Post-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) present at the time of evaluation developing afterward occur with an unknown frequency. We sought to determine burden these patients. reviewed 51 consecutive HTs between 2003-2007, including 40 primary transplants 11 re-transplants. Symptoms were 17 patients (34%) orthotopic transplantation evaluation. None met criteria for full post traumatic disorder. Transplant complications examined. Nineteen subjects total sample had rejection first year following transplant. Rejection rates was 41% those PTSS (7 patients) 36% without (12 33 (P=n.s). Of presenting a second transplant, 55% and/or peritransplant period; whereas, (28%) undergoing PTSS. In addition resulting from disease process leading HT other prior experiences, itself seems large psychiatric on All need be followed signs related Future studies should undertaken if preventative detection treatment early can lead better outcomes.
