Purpose: Medication non-adherence is the most prevalent issue within adolescent population, where often times patients will face barriers to achieve adherence. This article sought out present a narrative review of medication adherence identified and reported in organ transplant patients, whilst providing potential intervention methods. Method: A literature was conducted using databases PubMed, MasterFILE Premier*, Elsevier, Google Scholar. The articles were chosen based on their relativity topic interventions patients. Also, total 11 different medical practitioners contacted for an interview. Results: Twenty-six studies be part this review, content studies, five barrier types developed: “treatment-related barriers”, “psychosocial “transition readiness “relationship barriers”. also various methods regards education, behavior, relationships, mental health interventions. One interview with pediatric nephrologist. Conclusion: Based these results it important acknowledge that there not one common among every patient, as each patient develops unique set barriers. recognized importance awareness vast possibilities rather than generalized approach

Children and adolescents with a congenital heart defect (ConHD) frequently undergo painful or frightening medical procedures hospitalizations. They often need multiple invasive at very young age require regular checkups during their entire life. From other pediatric populations it is known that these kind of experiences can result in acute stress reactions even posttraumatic disorder (PTSD) the long-term. PTSD also subthreshold lead to serious (psychosocial) impairment. However, limited information available about children ConHD. Therefore, aim this review provide summary current literature on ConHD describing prevalence its predictors/correlates. This indicates range 12-31% undergoing cardiac surgery develops PTSD. A 12-14% shows elevated symptoms (PTSS). These findings are comparable those hospitalized without Noteworthy, most studies used varying self-report questionnaires measure only one study semi-structured interview. Although all point same direction PTSS, systematic research necessary be able draw firm conclusions. At present, as far we know, clinics treating patients there no screening for In reviewed literature, strong consensus PTSS (preventive) psychological care urgently needed

Living with end-stage organ failure is associated an accumulation of traumatic medical events, and despite recovery after solid-organ transplantation (SOT), many children continue to exhibit lower quality life (QOL). Few studies have examined the relationship between post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) QOL among pediatric SOT recipients. We conducted a retrospective, cross-sectional review 61 recipients (12 heart, 30 kidney, 19 liver) evaluate association PTSD self-reported QOL. was measured by Child Trauma Screening Questionnaire (CTSQ), using PedsQL Transplant Module (PedsQL-TM) surveys. Cardiovascular diseases are a leading cause of disability and mortality among the working population, necessitating development implementation new, more effective treatment rehabilitation methods for such patients, including use modern cellular tissue technologies. In this review, an analysis summary research results over past decades regarding effectiveness various types stem cells in heart pathology were conducted. Priority directions include search accessible safe sources cells, new their cultivation, scaffolds transplantation. Given pathogenetic mechanisms cardiovascular myocardial regeneration, particular interest clinical application is drawn to tissue-specific progenitors from myocardium replacing injured cardiomyocytes, endothelial correcting accompanying dysfunction, multipotent mesenchymal origins with low immunogenicity that exhibit trophic, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, anti-apoptotic effects. Questions optimal method, dose, frequency cell administration, as well standardization criteria quality effectiveness, remain open. Additionally, combined different may serve priority strategy assessing safety therapy, especially considering paradigm repeated The successful translation obtained preclinical into further large, well-planned, placebo-controlled trials will enhance therapy diseases, which one current challenges regenerative medicine.

Pediatric solid organ transplant recipients are susceptible to posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS), given the presence of a life-threatening chronic medical condition and potential for complications. However, little is known about what individual characteristics associated with an increased risk PTSS among youth who received transplant. The aim current study was evaluate its associations executive functioning (EF) personality (i.e., neuroticism conscientiousness) adolescents transplants.Fifty-three (Mage = 16.40, SD 1.60) kidney, heart, or liver completed self-report measures personality, whereas caregivers caregiver-proxy report adolescent EF.Twenty-two percent reported clinically significant levels PTSS. Higher EF difficulties levels, lower conscientiousness were significantly higher (rs -.34 .64). Simple slope analyses revealed that both high impairment demonstrated highest (t 3.47; p < .001).Most in present did not PTSS; however, those greater may be particularly vulnerable following transplantation. Following transplantation, providers should assess factors developing Identification at critical, strong between certain outcomes (e.g., medication nonadherence) these youth.

ABSTRACT Background Life with end‐stage organ failure is accompanied by an accumulation of traumatic medical or surgical experiences. Despite recovery after solid transplantation (SOT), many children and adolescents develop post‐traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS). PTSS remain underappreciated as a major comorbidity in SOT programs, despite their association decreased quality life. Methods We conducted retrospective, cross‐sectional study 86 pediatric recipients (17 heart, 44 kidney, 25 liver) to evaluate potential determinants PTSS. Trauma were measured the Child Screening Questionnaire (CTSQ). Demographic, baseline, contemporaneous factors tested for independent CTSQ scores. Results The median post‐transplant score was 2 (IQR 1–4), 22% identified high risk (score ≥5) PTSD.
