The
presence

microplastics
in
the
human
body
and
their
potential
health
risks

seabirds).

(NMPs)

Drinking
boiled
water,
an
ancient
tradition
in
some
Asian
countries,
is
supposedly
beneficial
for
human
health,
as
boiling
can
remove
chemicals
and
most
biological
substances.
However,
it
remains
unclear
whether
effective
removing
NMPs
tap
water.
Herein
we
present
evidence
that
polystyrene,
polyethylene,
polypropylene
coprecipitate
with
calcium
carbonate
(CaCO3)
incrustants
upon
boiling.
Boiling
hard
(>120
mg
L–1
CaCO3)
at
least
80%
size
between
0.1
150
μm.
Elevated
temperatures
promote
CaCO3
nucleation
on
NMPs,
resulting
the
encapsulation
aggregation
within
incrustants.
