Background: Depressive symptoms are associated with negative expectations and reduced belief updating by positive information. Cognitive immunization, the devaluation of information, has been argued to be central in this relationship predictive processing models suggest that more information is greater cognitive immunization. Methods: In an online experiment, N=347 healthy participants took part a performance task standardized feedback varying levels positivity (mild, moderate, extreme). Effects on immunization were investigated. Further, depressive symptoms, interpretation bias participant’s self-evaluation examined as potential correlates updating. Results: As expected, receiving mildly reported amount than those moderately feedback. However, neither group differed from extremely Although did not show hypothesized association they weaker increase following Exploratory analyses showed associations between updating. Conclusions: The results engaged when was less expected. updating, but immunization. Self-evaluation may promising factor for future research.

Effects of online contemplative practices, especially partner-based on psychological well-being remain mixed, with sparse understanding potential affective-cognitive mechanisms. The study aimed to assess the efficacy two interventions in improving depression, anxiety, emotion regulation (ER), and resilience, evaluate mechanistic role negative attention interpretation biases. Employing a randomized controlled design (n = 285), we compared 10-week mindfulness-based socio-emotional dyadic interventions, both supported by weekly coaching sessions. Mental health aspects were assessed using validated self-report measures biases mouse-contingent Scrambled Sentences Task. Both waitlist control, led reductions depression ER difficulties, while trait anxiety decreased only after mindfulness training. Increases multidimensional resilience observed training stress recovery training, control. Socio-emotional significant bias this mediated anxiety. Neither state or bias. subclinical nature overrepresentation females sample limits generalizability. Findings indicate that sessions, can reduce difficulties. Though practice reduced enhanced recovery, increased resilience. bias, which emerged as an intervention-specific mechanism. These findings highlight benefits intervention approaches for well-being.

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has created a significant mental health burden on the global population. Studies during have shown that risk factors such as intolerance of uncertainty and maladaptive emotion regulation are associated with increased psychopathology. Meanwhile, protective cognitive control flexibility been to protect pandemic. However, potential pathways through which these function impact remain unclear. In present multi-wave study, 304 individuals (18 years or older, 191 Males), residing in USA data collection, completed weekly online assessments validated questionnaires across period five weeks (27th March 2020–1st May 2020). Mediation analyses revealed longitudinal changes difficulties mediated effect increases stress, depression, anxiety Further, individual differences moderated relationship between difficulties. While emerged for health, seems against negative effects promote stress resilience. Interventions aimed at enhancing might protection similar crises future.

Abstract The aim of the present research was to develop and test efficacy a novel online contingent attention training (i.e., OCAT) modify interpretation biases, improve emotion regulation, reduce emotional symptom levels in face major stressors. Two proof-of-principle studies were carried out. In study 1, 64 undergraduates who about start stressful period final exams) randomized undergo 10 days active OCAT or sham-control training. Emotion regulation (habitual use rumination reappraisal) (depression anxiety) assessed before after intervention. 2 , same × mixed design used with 58 individuals from general population undergoing situation (the lockdown at beginning COVID-19 pandemic 2020). both studies, group showed significant improvements on towards negative information biases comparison group. Additionally, changes cognitive transferred reductions participants’ anxiety levels. These results show preliminary evidence regarding target as well processes buffer against effects

Individuals exhibit a systematic valence bias-a specific form of interpretation bias-in response to emotional ambiguity. Accumulating evidence suggests most people initially respond ambiguity negatively and differ only in subsequent responses. We hypothesized that trait-level cognitive reappraisal-an emotion regulation strategy involving the reinterpretation affective meaning stimuli-might explain individual differences bias. To answer this question, we conducted random-effects meta-analysis 14 effect sizes from 13 prior studies (
