Maternal and neonatal infections pose a significant public health challenge, particularly in developing countries like Benin. This retrospective study investigates the frequency determinants of maternal Benin during 2022, utilizing data from six reference hospitals. The includes 123 neonates suspected infection, analyzing factors such as birth weight, breastfeeding practices, clinical delivery parameters, laboratory-confirmed infection rates. Findings reveal that 32% cases were confirmed infections, with higher prevalence among premature newborns those born specific emphasizes need for improved diagnostic facilities, control awareness healthcare workers pregnant women. Recommendations future research include broader geographic coverage enhanced training programs.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic immune-mediated inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract with highly heterogeneous presentation. It has relapsing and remitting clinical course that necessitates lifelong monitoring treatment. Although availability variety effective therapeutic options including immunomodulators biologics (such as TNF, CAM inhibitors) led to paradigm shift in treatment outcomes management IBD patients, some patients still either fail respond or lose their responsiveness therapy over time. Therefore, according recent Selecting Therapeutic Targets Bowel Disease (STRIDE-II) recommendations, continuous from symptomatic relief endoscopic healing along short- long-term responses are critical for providing tailored algorithm. Moreover, considering high unmet need novel approaches various new modulators cytokine signaling events (for example, JAK/TYK inhibitors), inhibitors cytokines example IL-12/IL-23, IL-22, IL-36, IL-6 anti-adhesion migration strategies β7 integrin, sphingosine 1-phosphate receptors, stem cells), well microbial-based therapeutics decolonize bed buds fecal microbiota transplantation bacterial currently being evaluated different phases controlled trials. This review aims offer comprehensive overview available emerging patients. Furthermore, predictive biomarkers response therapies also discussed.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic gastrointestinal condition characterized by severe gut inflammation, commonly presenting as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or categorized IBD- unclassified. While various treatments have demonstrated efficacy in adult IBD patients, the advent of anti-TNF therapies has significantly revolutionized treatment outcomes and clinical management. These played pivotal role achieving endoscopic remission, promoting mucosal healing, averting progression, diminishing necessity for surgery. Nevertheless, not all patients exhibit positive responses to these therapies, some may experience loss responsiveness over time. This review aims present comprehensive examination predictive biomarkers monitoring therapeutic response therapy patients. It will explore their limitations utilities, paving way more personalized effective approach.

One of the most common routes chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is mother-to-child transmission (MTCT). Approximately 6.4 million children under age five have HBV infections worldwide. DNA high level, HBeAg positivity, placental barrier failure, and immaturity fetal immune are possible causes infection. The passive-active program for children, which consists vaccine immunoglobulin, antiviral therapy pregnant women who a load (greater than 2 × 105 IU/ml), currently two important ways to prevent from mother child. Unfortunately, some infants still infections. Some studies also found that supplementation during pregnancy can increase cytokine levels then affect level HBsAb in infants. For example, IL-4 mediate beneficial effect on infants' when maternal folic acid supplementation. In addition, new research has indicated may be linked unfavorable outcomes such as gestational diabetes mellitus, intrahepatic cholestasis pregnancy, premature rupture membranes. changes environment hepatotropic nature main reasons adverse outcomes. It interesting note after delivery, had spontaneously achieve seroconversion HBsAg seroclearance. T-cell immunity because adaptive responses, especially virus-specific CD8 largely responsible viral clearance disease pathogenesis Meanwhile, humoral responses durability protection vaccination. This article reviews literature immunological characteristics HBV-infected patients postpartum, blocking transmissions related mechanisms, hoping provide insights prevention MTCT intervention postpartum.

The microbial communities are an indispensable part of the human defense system and coexist with humans as symbionts, contributing to metabolic functions immune against pathogens. An ecologically stable vaginal microbiota is dominated by Lactobacillus species, which plays important role in prevention genital infections controlling pH, reducing glycogen lactic acid, stimulating bacteriocins hydrogen peroxide. In contrast, abnormal composition associated increased risk bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, sexually transmitted diseases, preterm labor other birth defects. This diversity affected race, ethnicity, pregnancy, hormonal changes, sexual activities, hygiene practices conditions. present review, we discuss changes community region at different stages a female's life cycle its influence on her reproductive health pathological

This systematic review explored the impact of maternal immune activation (MIA) on learning and memory behavior in offspring, with a particular focus sexual dimorphism. We analyzed 20 experimental studies involving rodent models (rats mice) exposed to either lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or POLY I:C during gestation following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Our findings reveal that most report detrimental MIA performance highlighting significant role prenatal environmental factors neurodevelopment. Furthermore, this underscores complex effects sex, males often exhibiting more pronounced cognitive impairment compared females. Notably, small subset enhanced function MIA, suggesting complex, context-dependent outcomes challenges. also highlights sex differences caused by terms cytokine responses, alterations gene expression, microglial responses as contribute observed.
