Hydrological and water quality datasets usually encompass a large number of characteristic variables, but not all these significantly influence analytical outcomes. Therefore, by wisely selecting feature variables with rich information content removing redundant features, it only can the analysis efficiency be improved, model complexity also simplified. This paper considers introducing granular-ball rough set algorithm for variable selection combining k-nearest neighbor method back propagation network to analyze hydrological data, thus promoting overall fused inspection. The results data show that proposed produces better compared using standalone regressor.

Phytoplankton plays an essential role in the biogeochemical cycle because it is at top of food chain and a source oxygen. Eutrophication causes coastal areas to deteriorate as industrialization accelerates, leading harmful algal blooms (HABs), severely affecting human ecological health. The frequency extent HAB events potentially may increase due climate change. outbreaks have led substantial losses for major economies globally, therefore emerged critical research focus environmental sciences. However, lack overview diverse factors influencing HABs complicates cause identification effective countermeasure development occurrence, thereby impeding formulation targeted strategies prediction mitigation. Therefore, this review summarizes influential areas, including water quality (nutrients, salinity, stratification, biological factors) climatological (temperature, pH pCO2, irradiance light). Recent work with several algae species suggested that warmer temperatures combined nutrient variation, stronger ocean acidification growth some toxic dinoflagellate species. Although effects vary different locations, intensification anthropogenic activities change likely will frequency, outbreak scale, severity most HABs. Because predicting crucial understanding synergy their minimizing decision makers stakeholders, we reviewed models HABs, process-based models, traditional statistical-empirical data-driven machine learning models. Predicting becomes more challenging spatial distribution influenced by future patterns. Estuaries act as significant pathways for plastic waste entry into the oceans, with microplastics (MPs) being intricately influenced by river and coastal hydrodynamics. MPs become entrapped within estuaries during transport, particularly at river–sea interface, which impacted tidal fluctuations. However, few studies have examined role of impacts variations on microplastic abundance export flux interface across contrasting hydrological regimes (dry vs. wet seasons). In this study, we conducted observations to assess abundance, composition, in Suixi Estuary Zhanjiang Bay, China The results indicated an overall mean 91.1 ± 75.0 items/L, was linked variations, decreasing high tides increasing low tides. Transparent color, fibrous shape, a size range 100–330 μm were most prevalent characteristics water samples. diversity higher season compared dry season. addition, influx about 1.61 × 109 items/year from sea both seasons. Although great efforts have been made to decrease nutrient (notably nitrogen and phosphorus) loads lighten related environmental damages, coastal eutrophication remains a persistent crisis. To estimate whether the rapid development of local economy has accelerated in Zhanjiang Bay, newly developing industry South China, combination seasonal nutrients other physicochemical parameters from twenty cruises during 2017-2021 historical data (past 30 years) was analyzed this study. The results showed that upper bay is significantly higher than lower (more 8 times), which mainly terrestrial input weak hydrological conditions bay. Also, more severe rainy seasons dry (nearly 2 times) because abundant phosphorus were brought into by discharge river water. From long-term perspective, dissolved inorganic concentrations effectively controlled while phosphate concentration increased sharply past years. Coastal eutrophication is a major issue of marine pollution. The main factors controlling must be identified to ensure effective environmental management according the respective local conditions. Zhanjiang Bay (ZJB), located northwest South China Sea, semi-closed bay influenced by complex water flows and development surrounding cities. In this study, we investigated nutrient concentrations compositions in ZJB seawater over past 20 years influencing based on several field investigations from 2006 2022 historical data. High dissolved inorganic phosphorus (DIP) nitrogen (DIN) were contributors severe long-term ZJB; however, light was observed outer bay, primarily caused chemical oxygen demand (COD) DIP. primary sources COD nutrients riverine freshwater, sewage outfalls, mariculture domestic effluents carried rivers. Tidal effects diluted with thereby playing key role redistribution. DIN: DIP ratio showed restriction excess phosphorus, owing activities. Marine undertakings can exert various impacts quality. Eliminating illegal aquaculture launching tailwater treatment improve quality, whereas practices such as channel dredging may worsen it. This study demonstrates intricate dynamics ecosystem offers valuable insights for conservation efforts.

Plastic debris contamination in marine environments is a global problem that poses considerable threat to the sustainability and health of coastal ecosystems. Marine beaches, as key zones where terrestrial plastic reach waters, are faced with increasing pressures human activities. In this study, we explored distribution, composition, inventory over seasonal tidal at Yugang Park Beach (YPB) Zhanjiang Bay, South China Sea, provide baseline for on beach. The results showed mean abundance summer (6.00 ± 2.10 items/m2) was significantly greater than winter (3.75 2.12 items/m2). addition, composition ranged size mainly from 1 5 mm 0.5 2.5 cm summer, respectively. terms white most common (81.1%), foam abundant (64.4%). Moreover, there significant relationship between sand grain fraction (p < 0.05), implying abundances microplastic were more easily impacted by (>2 mm). total inventory, about 1.18 × 105 2.95 items YPB variation activities responsible accumulation.
