L-Ascorbic
acid,
commonly
known
as
vitamin
C,
has
been
used
not
only
for
disease
prevention
and
in
complementary
alternative
medicine,
but
also
anti-aging
purposes.
However,
the
scientific
evidence
is
yet
sufficient.
Here,
we
review
physiological
functions
of
C
its
relationship
with
various
pathological
conditions,
including
our
previous
findings,
discuss
prospects
application
healthy
longevity.
In
summary,
levels
are
associated
lifespan
several
animal
models.
Furthermore,
clinical
studies
have
shown
that
blood

middle-aged

than
younger
adults.

It
is

this
review
aims
emphasize
importance
usefulness

quality
life

various
diseases
(e.g.,
chronic

cancer.
Although

essential
information
about
properties
