L-Ascorbic acid, commonly known as vitamin C, has been used not only for disease prevention and in complementary alternative medicine, but also anti-aging purposes. However, the scientific evidence is yet sufficient. Here, we review physiological functions of C its relationship with various pathological conditions, including our previous findings, discuss prospects application healthy longevity. In summary, levels are associated lifespan several animal models. Furthermore, clinical studies have shown that blood lower middle-aged older adults than younger adults. Lower observed conditions such chronic kidney obstructive pulmonary elderly. These observations suggest implications age-related mechanisms owing to functions.

Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s (PD), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and multiple (MS), which are a consequence of the progressive loss neuronal function structure, cause significant cognitive impairment. The incidence these in world’s population is constantly increasing result an aging population. Although genetic environmental factors most often mentioned pathogenetic diseases, evidence points to important role proper nutrition prevention support treatment disorders. A healthy, balanced diet can mitigate risks associated with risk above slow progression by reducing oxidative stress inflammation. Vitamins B, D, E, C, K, have been shown functions protect nervous system. This review demonstrates importance vitamins preventing supporting therapy neurodegenerative diseases. Information regarding health-promoting properties must be effectively communicated consumers seeking their health, particularly context Consequently, this also examines authorized health claims under EU food law related vitamins, assessing promoting awareness vitamins’ potential benefits for neuroprotection management

Since Albert Szent-Györgyi discovered it and became used in treating scurvy, vitamin C has attracted interest many studies due to its unique properties. It is an important cofactor the synthesis of collagen hormones, involved immunity, iron absorption, processes requiring antioxidants. Thus, this review aims emphasize importance usefulness improving quality life preventing various diseases (e.g., chronic diseases, cardiovascular cancer) but also for use treatments against infections, neurodegenerative cancer. Although presented provide essential information about properties VIC beneficial effect on health, some contradict these theories. In respect, further larger samples over a longer period are needed demonstrate therapeutic potential nutrient. However, remains necessary that should be consumed daily maintain optimal health prevent deficiencies can lead scurvy associated complications.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that primarily affects the elderly, leading to severe cognitive decline and loss of autonomy. The accumulation amyloid-β peptides tau proteins in brain considered central pathogenic mechanism, which results neuronal dysfunction cell death. Various metabolic disruptions, such as chronic oxidative stress inflammatory processes, further exacerbate progression AD. This review, based on literature from PubMed, SciELO, MDPI, ScienceDirect, evaluates role bioactive compounds dietary patterns, specifically Mediterranean MIND diets, mitigating These rich vitamins, flavonoids, carotenoids, omega-3 fatty acids, have shown potential reducing damage inflammation brain, offering neuroprotective benefits. findings suggest vitamin E isomers polyphenols may delay decline, presenting promising avenue for future interventions aimed at optimizing consumption these prevent or slow onset Further research needed determine optimal doses combinations maximize their protective effects.

The relation of vitamin C with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is equivocal. aim this study was to assess the serum levels AD-related mortality, and evaluate threshold beyond which potential benefits higher concentrations for AD mortality ceases. cohort consisted 4504 adults aged ≥60 years enrolled in National Health Nutrition Examination Survey who had measures no cognitive impairment at baseline (1988–1994) were followed-up until 2019. Vitamin assayed from fasting blood samples using isocratic high-performance liquid chromatography. At baseline, mean age participants 70 years, 42.7% being men. end follow-up (median: 15 years), rate 2.4 per 1000 person-years. In Cox regression models, compared lowest tertile (<0.56 mg/dL), those highest (>0.98 mg/dL) a lower risk (hazard ratio: 0.44, 95% confidence intervals: 0.25–0.77) after adjusting sociodemographic factors, behavior/lifestyle prevalent health conditions, dietary intake. dose–response analysis restricted cubic splines, 2.3 mg/dL associated elevated mortality. findings national sample community-dwelling elderly suggest that are slower progression, although normal reference values

Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative involving memory impairment, confusion, and behavioural changes. The characterised by the accumulation of amyloid beta plaques neurofibrillary tangles in brain, which disrupt normal neuronal function. There no known cure for due to increasing life expectancy, occurrence projected rise over coming decades. causes are multifactorial with inflammation, oxidative stress, genetic epigenetic variation, cerebrovascular abnormalities among strongest contributors. We review current literature surrounding inflammation epigenetics disease, focus on how oxidants from infiltrating immune cells have potential alter DNA methylation profiles ageing brain.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder with cognitive dysfunction, memory decline, and behavioral disturbance, it pathologically characterized by the accumulation of amyloid plaques neurofibrillary tangles in brain. Although various hypotheses have been proposed to explain pathogenesis AD, including beta hypothesis, oxidative stress abnormal phosphorylation tau proteins, exact pathogenic mechanisms underlying AD remain largely undefined. Furthermore, effective curative treatments are very limited. Epidemiologic studies provide convincing evidence for significant association between type 2 diabetes AD. Here, we showed energy metabolism using glucose, lactate, ketone bodies, lipids as substrates normal brain, changes such due diabetes. We also influences altered on pathology comprehensively searched risk factors related possible therapeutic interventions based considering brain development
