This study examined cognitive performance during exercise and the effects of intensity, modality, task type, time assessment, as well assessed accompanying self-reported measures. Eighteen highly-trained elite water polo players (21.04 ± 3.27 years age; 12 male, 6 female) completed a dual-task protocol on two occasions: once performing domain-general (Stroop test with three trial types) domain-specific (water video-based test) cycling exercise. The involved work-matched bouts cycling: continuous moderate high interval intensity. Self-reported measures (rating perceived exertion, affect, mental effort, physical demands) were recorded after each condition. There intensity-related Stroop only, including faster reaction moderate-intensity for naming trials (p < 0.001), interactions type = 0.037). no differences between high-intensity conditions either or responses. Notably, effort demand, in addition to be significantly higher than despite identical conditions. Furthermore, accuracy was associated more positive affect (r 0.47) lower ratings demand −0.37). These findings imply possible task-specificity athletes' performance. They also support importance further exploring how duration participants' perceptions relate executive function

Physical exercise is a potential intervention for enhancing cognitive function across the lifespan. However, while studies employing long-term interventions consistently show positive effects on cognition, using single acute bouts have produced mixed results. Here, systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to determine impact of task performance in healthy young adults. It is well established that acute moderate-intensity exercise improves cognitive performance. However, the effects of high-intensity aerobic on performance have not been characterized. In this review, we summarize literature investigating exercise-cognition interaction, especially focusing exercise. We discuss methodological and physiological factors potentially mediate in response to propose are primarily affected by timing task (during vs. after exercise, time delay exercise). particular, more likely be impaired during when both demands high completed simultaneously (i.e., dual-task paradigm). Abstract Background There has been an increase in the number of studies examining effect acute and chronic physical activity on academic outcomes children adolescents last two decades. We aimed to systematically determine effects school‐aged youth examine possible moderators. Methods conducted a systematic search using PubMed, Web Science, SPORTDiscus, PsycINFO databases (from inception 11th January 2023) for assessing performance‐related youth. A univariate multivariate meta‐analysis was based random‐effects model with restricted maximum likelihood used pool results (Hedge's g). Results included 11 articles (803 [range: 6–16 years]) review. Overall, increased g = 0.35, 95% CI: 0.20–0.50). Multivariate meta‐analyses revealed that performance mathematics 0.29, 0.16–0.42) language 0.28, 0.09–0.47). Only behavior change techniques 0.54, CI, 0.18–0.90, p < 0.001) played significant role this relationship. Conclusions single bout can improve youth, which may serve as complementary tool educational field. However, observed heterogeneity indicates we should interpret findings obtained caution.

Physical exercise is a robust lifestyle intervention known for its enhancement of cognitive abilities. Nevertheless, the extent to which these benefits can be transmitted across generations (intergenerational inheritance F1, and transgenerational F2 beyond) remains topic limited comprehension. We have already shown that improvements resulting from physical inherited parents their offspring, proving intergenerational effects. So, we set out explore whether enhancements might extend transgenerationally, impacting generation. In this study, initially examined behavioral traits second generation (F2) male mice, whose grandfathers (F0) had an intervention. Our findings revealed mice with physically active grandpaternal F0 progenitors displayed significantly improved memory recall, encompassing both spatial non-spatial information when compared counterparts sedentary progenitors, first time induced enhancement. Surprisingly, while (as was case F1), adult hippocampal neurogenesis remained unchanged between experimental control groups (unlike in F1). Additionally, our analysis small RNA sequences hippocampus identified 35 differentially expressed miRNAs linked important brain function categories. Notably, two miRNAs, miRNA-144 miRNA-298, negative correlation performance. These highlight enduring transmission associated exercise, even after generations, suggesting moderate training lasting positive effects, possibly orchestrated by specific exert influence multiple generations.

Executive functioning (EF) in referees is associated with their decision-making during a match and can be affected by mental fatigue (MF), psychobiological state induced prolonged periods of cognitive activity or high demand within short timeframe. Therefore, the aim this study was to investigate impact MF on EF perception effort physical task for football referees. Twelve male professional were recruited (32 ± 7.3 years; 1.75 0.06 cm; 85 13.32 kg; 41.4 5.92 mL kg-1 min-1 VO2max), visiting laboratory three occasions: one characterization familiarization two experimental manipulations: load (MF) low load. After manipulations, they performed designed replicate demands an official match. During task, executive tested reaction time ratings perceived assessed using subjective scales. The results revealed no effect response performance (p = 0.395). However, higher perceptions observed condition 0.018), which may performance.
