Purpose This study aims to examine the concurrent influence of parental stress, executive functions and communication skills on challenging behaviors in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). These are frequently exhibited by ASD can be attributed a variety factors, including child’s environment their own level development. Design/methodology/approach The current investigation was cross-sectional. Based inclusion criteria, 74 were chosen, those aged 4–7 years 11 months, moderate without medical conditions or accompanying issues. Convenience sampling implemented. Findings In ASD, observed significantly correlated all three factors ( p < 0.05). Additionally, most effective predictor frequency these children. Furthermore, stress severity behaviors. Originality/value previous research, examination impact that demonstrated restricted (executive skills), whereas environmental such as disregarded. To best authors’ knowledge, this is first research look at crucial factors: functioning abilities ASD. findings suggest interventions targeting may benefit from addressing function difficulties stress.

Abstract Self‐injurious behaviors (SIB) encompass a heterogeneous set of self‐inflicted aggressive that are highly prevalent in autistic youth. Existing research on SIB autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has been limited by significant methodological and conceptual inconsistencies. Thus, the current study leveraged item‐level data capturing severity unique topographies to further understanding factors associated with distinct sample 582 youth ( M age = 12.12, SD 3.68; range: 3–19 years; 13% females). Results suggest variation endorsements for specific amongst youth, such 30%–50% caregivers endorsed slight very serious concern regarding bites nails/skin/fingers, scratches self, hits head/face/neck, bangs head against things, picks skin. Generalized additive models demonstrated patterns associations between each topography dysregulation, sensory hypersensitivity, age, sex, IQ, language level. Findings underscore importance exploring as multifaceted construct capture correlates vary functional impact, which is critical development effective interventions. This represents an important step towards more individualized characterization support diverse presentations these

Abstract This study explored how caregiver-reported executive functioning domains, assessed by the BRIEF2 at baseline, predicted behavioral challenges reported caregivers using CBCL six months later. The sample included 94 youth with Down syndrome, aged 6 to 18 years. Results of hierarchical regression analyses revealed that, after controlling for effect IQ, working memory significantly inattentive behaviors, inhibition rule-breaking and both emotional control aggressive externalizing behaviors. After baseline only persisted as a significant predictor behaviors measured findings are discussed referring relevant theories research providing clinical implications recommendations further studies.

ABSTRACT Behavioral interventions have demonstrated group‐level benefits for a variety of behavioral presentations and conditions. The ability to capture quantify reliable individual‐level change during the course is essential making rational clinical management decisions. Recently, neurobehavioral evaluation tool (NET) was developed revised use within intervention outcome assessment. Traditional, practice‐adjusted, standardized regression‐based indices (RCIs) were calculated NET domains provide norms. In two samples (Ns = 498 125), traditional RCIs indicated that symptom reductions skill improvements needed be +/− 0.7 1.3 SDs across domains. Standardized norms slightly smaller magnitude changes are required considered reliable. NET‐derived can used inform interventions. Regression‐based may particularly useful guiding individuals with very high symptoms/very low skills at baseline.

Background This study explores the effects of acute resistance exercise (RE) on inhibitory control (IC), emphasizing volume. Methods In total, 78 young adults were randomly assigned to one three groups: moderate-intensity group [MI; 60% repetition maximum (1RM), 3 × 10 reps], low-intensity (LI; 30% 1RM, 20 reps), or (CON; 35 min reading). The groups volume-matched. Baseline equivalence was assessed via one-way analysis variance (ANOVA) for demographic variables and chi-square gender. One-way covariance examined post-test interreference inverse efficiency score scores, controlling pre-test values. Two-way ANOVA Group (MI, LI, CON) Time heart rate (resting; pre-test, during intervention, post-test), perceived exertion (pre-test, lactate mid-test, post-test). Mean differences 95% confidence intervals supplemented p -values. Results IC using Stroop Task, revealing better performance in both MI ( = 0.026) LI 0.040) compared CON, though no significant difference found between two groups. Blood levels significantly increased post-exercise 0.012) < 0.001) groups, but again, there them. Conclusions These findings highlight that RE, regardless intensity, enhances raises blood when volume is controlled. Practitioners might tailor RE protocols by adjusting intensity match individuals’ capabilities without compromising cognitive physiological benefits. ABSTRACT Background Behavioural concerns, such as aggression and self‐injury, are common among youth with intellectual developmental disabilities. Additional research is needed to further explore the specific ways in which these types of behaviour impact individuals their families. Methods Caregivers seeking treatment for child's behavioural concerns completed an interview regarding negative related (a) physical harm self or others, (b) property damage, (c) structural modifications, (d) situational avoidance (e) reactive measures. We reviewed outcomes interviews report on prevalence various impacts this clinical sample. Results Most caregivers reported at least some (72.99%), damage (63.99%) preventative measures avoiding removing preferred items activities (72.35%). Some endorsed severe impacts, need emergency services (10.61%) residential placements (5.14%). Conclusions sample consistently resulting from concerns. This information crucial advocating additional high‐need population, used gather may be a helpful tool guide future work.

The quality of life (QoL) families caring for children with neurodevelopmental disorders is influenced by the severity disorder, family support, and access to specialized services. Parental stress also affects dynamics QoL due additional demands care, particularly focusing on management activities daily living (ADLs). This study aimed analyze relationship between parents’ stress, involving 46 parents aged 3 12 years disorders, while examining performance in ADLs, sensory processing, executive functioning disorders. Significant positive associations were found factor 1 “Assessment Sensory Processing Executive Functions Childhood” (EPYFEI) perceived ( r = 0.401, p ≤ 0.01), physical component summary (PCS) 0.330, 0.05). negative correlations observed ADL SF-12 − 0.356, Conversely, a significant association was factors 4 EPYFEI 0.392, 0.01 0.660, 0.01). Furthermore, PCS 0.471, mental (MCS) 0.300, revealed that parental are closely linked ADLs Interventions strengthen these areas might improve well-being QoL. The global proliferation of video games, particularly among children, has led to growing concerns about the potential impact on children's social development. Executive function is a cognitive ability that plays crucial role in development, but child's age constrains its To examine association between game engagement and development while considering mediating executive moderating age, questionnaire was distributed sample 431 parents. results revealed negative relation with found mediate this fully. Additionally, became more pronounced as children grew older. In light these findings, it advisable adopt proactive strategies limit excessive use, consider developmental characteristics at different ages, prioritize promotion facilitate children.

Abstract There is a paucity of research that explores associations between emotion dysregulation and the expression severity core co‐occurring characteristics autism spectrum disorder (ASD), especially in autistic youth with intellectual disability (ID). This study explored interplay developmental dysregulation, anxiety, specific subtypes RRBs are elevated ID. Generalized additive models demonstrated age, sex, language level, anxiety showed unique patterns association sample 150 ID who non‐speaking or minimally verbal. More specifically, higher levels were significantly associated elevations repetitive sensory motor behaviors (RSMB), self‐injurious (SIB), insistence on sameness (IS), unusual interests (UI). While was significant predictor UI, it positive, albeit not significant, intensity SIB RSMB. Language level RSMB, such RSMB for individuals relative to those spoke single words.
