Children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) often experience challenges in emotion regulation (ER) dysregulation (ED) which can interfere their adaptive functioning. This study aimed to systematically review meta-analyze the evidence on ER/ED children and/or ASD, examining its relationship following variables: internalizing externalizing symptoms, cognitive function social skills, effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions addressing ER difficulties. Both electronic manual searches were conducted identify potential studies. Fifty-five studies included meta-analysis. A statistically significant between-group difference was found, suggesting greater ASD group. Also, group showed more maladaptive strategies fewer compared non-ASD participants. Additionally, severe poorer skills associated ED respectivelly. Furthermore, there a correlation between symptomatology both strategies. Studies improvement ED. These results imply that assessing should be part evaluation process, it also focal point for intervention this population.

Studies in recent years and especially since the beginning of COVID-19 pandemic have shown a significant increase problematic use computer games social media. Adolescents having difficulties regulating their unpleasant emotions are prone to Problematic Internet Use (PIU), which is why emotion dysregulation has been considered risk factor for PIU. In this narrative, comprehensive, and updated review of the literature, we summarize evidence about effectiveness interventions aimed at reducing emotion dysregulation improving regulation in children, adolescents, adults. After introducing from a theoretical standpoint, discuss factors commonly associated with regulation, including neurobiological neuropsychological mechanisms, role childhood adverse experiences psycho–social onset dysregulation. We then present pharmacological non-pharmacological aiming promoting across lifespan. Although our was not intended as traditional systematic review, search only restricted to reviews meta-analyses, highlighted important implications provided recommendations for clinical practice future research field.

Objectives: Early difficulties in emotion regulation are associated with psychopathological, broader social, and developmental outcomes, underscoring the need for robust assessment tools at a young age. However, most of existing instruments preschoolers measure general, without focusing on specific strategies. This study addresses critical gap by validating Dutch version Emotion Regulation Behavior Questionnaire (EERBQ), enabling researchers practitioners to assess preschoolers’ strategies both positive- as well negative-emotion-eliciting situations outside laboratory settings. Methods: Through rigorous back-translation process, parental questionnaire was adapted into (EERBQ-Dutch) subsequently validated sample 299 Dutch-speaking caregivers typically developing 2–7-year-old children. The test underwent psychometric analysis including inter-item correlations, item–total test–retest reliability, confirmatory factor analysis. Finally, potential sociodemographic predictors (i.e., age, sex, socioeconomic status (SES)) were investigated. Results: Psychometric analyses demonstrated strong reliability validity, structure consistent original English questionnaire. Age sex found be significant certain strategies, more proficient use adaptive over time girls employing Verbal Help-Seeking less Physical Venting Reactivity compared boys. SES only contributed Emotional higher predicting Reactivity. Conclusions: Our findings support EERBQ-Dutch reliable culturally appropriate instrument assessing early provide insight key
