The co-occurrence of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and epilepsy is a complex neurological condition that presents significant challenges for both patients clinicians. ASD group developmental disorders characterized by the following: (1) Social communication difficulties: in understanding responding to social cues, initiating maintaining conversations, developing relationships. (2) Repetitive behaviors: engaging repetitive actions, such as hand-flapping, rocking, or lining up objects. (3) Restricted interests: focusing intensely on specific topics activities, often exclusion other interests. (4) Sensory sensitivities: over- under-sensitivity sensory input, sounds, touch, tastes, smells, sights. These can significantly impact individuals' daily lives require specialized support interventions. Early diagnosis intervention improve quality life individuals with their families. Epilepsy chronic brain recurrent unprovoked (≥2) seizures occur >24 h apart. Single are not considered epileptic seizures. idiopathic, but various disorders, malformations, strokes, tumors, cause symptomatic epilepsy. While these two conditions were once distinct, growing evidence suggests substantial overlap underlying neurobiology. prevalence higher than general population. This review will explore epidemiology this comorbidity, delve into potential mechanisms linking epilepsy, discuss implications diagnosis, treatment, management.

Hospitals can be especially stressful for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) due to the communication and social skills deficits, lower capacity adapt disruption, sensory hypersensitivity that are typical of these patients. This study investigated how health-care professionals (HPs) experienced clinical care management ASD undergoing medical testing in a day hospital setting, assessed rate successful completion laboratory tests instrumental examinations.A cross-sectional questionnaire was administered 45 HPs, inquiring about their experience obtaining blood urine tests, ECG, audiometry, EEG from ASD. The sample included 153 consecutively referred (74.5% males, mean age 5.6 years) diagnostic work-up as part evaluation. success completing various assessments examined.HPs identified aggressive behavior deficits major challenges when providing parents were seen an important resource managing children. examinations high (between 88.5% 98.4% according specific type examination). lowest non-completion found (12.5%).Despite considerable being reported by HPs ASD, scheduled could completed large majority cases. Targeted approaches preventing behaviors obviating barriers exams warranted.

Autism is associated with significantly higher rates of internalizing and externalizing disorders compared to neurotypical (NT) individuals. Emotion dysregulation (ED) prevalent in autistic individuals has been proposed underlie both behavioral challenges autism. This study sought use a meta-analytic approach examine the magnitude ED severity samples NT other clinical (OC) samples. Following review literature, total 35 studies were included analyses. In general, when comparing non-autistic individuals, findings suggest medium difference between comparison groups overall. Subgroup analyses indicate that experience peers. Background Differences in social behaviours are common young people with neurodevelopmental conditions (NDCs). Recent research challenges the long-standing hypothesis that difficulties cognition explain behaviour differences. Aims We examined how regulating one's behaviour, emotions and thoughts to adapt environmental demands (i.e. dysregulation), alongside cognition, across neurodiverse people. Background: Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) encompass an inclusive group of conditions that appear during the developmental period but continue to persist in adulthood, ranging from particular difficulties a global impairment social, cognitive, and emotional functioning. The trajectories associated with these are highly heterogeneous. This study aimed analyze compare adaptive profiles preschool-aged children different NDDs better characterize their trajectories. Methods: We analyzed data initial evaluation 196 (aged 20 71 months), enrolled three subgroups: 108 autism spectrum disorder (ASD), 52 language (LD), 36 mixed specific (MSDD). A comprehensive neuropsychiatric was performed using standardized tools (Griffiths-III, ADOS-2, VABS-II, ADI-R), parents completed DP-3 CBCL 1½-5. Results: Our results showed all exhibited poor psychomotor skills, ASD being most impaired, although were comparable those MSDD communication motor areas. CBCL’s pervasive problem scale has been shown provide relevant information for distinguishing ASD. Furthermore, VABS-II measure differentiated each diagnostic group. Conclusions: highlighted importance including parents’/caregivers’ perspectives defining children’s functioning possibility as screening tool neurodevelopmental disorders.

Emotion dysregulation (ED) is a transdiagnostic difficulty prevalent in autism spectrum condition (ASC). Importantly, recent research has suggested that ED involved self-harm and suicidality. Pre-existing models on the etiology of ASC focus mainly biological factors to features, such as sensory sensitivities, poor flexibility, sensitivity change. However, although psychosocial seem play role emergence well (e.g., childhood maltreatment camouflaging), there lack comprehensive model conceptualizing biosocial autistic people. Linehan’s (1993) one leading etiological borderline personality disorder (BPD). It conceptualizes emerging from transactions between pre-existing emotional vulnerability child an invalidating developmental environment. Beyond its clinical relevance, gathered empirical evidence supporting pertinence BPD other psychiatric disorders. Although are two distinct diagnoses, because they may share ED, might be useful for understanding development ASC. Hence, this article aims provide application extension conceptualize To do so, we conducted narrative review literature underlying perspective. investigate applied people, were interested data (i) behavioral correlates ASC, relation model, (ii) potential (iii) overlapping difficulties BPD. The present study sought to clarify the impact of executive and social functioning on challenging behavior downstream influence quality life in a large transdiagnostic sample. Understanding these relationships is crucial for developing designing tailored intervention strategies. In cross-sectional study, parent informants 2,004 children completed measures functioning, behavior, child family life, reported functional impacts behavior.
