The use of antibiotics in animal production raises great public safety concerns; therefore, there is an urgent need for the development substitutes antibiotics. For decades now, sperm cryopreservation has been a pillar of assisted reproduction in animals as well humans. Cryopreservation poses significant challenges to the preservation of sperm integrity and function, particularly in small ruminants where cryodamage is pronounced. This review explores molecular mechanisms underlying strategies for improving cryopreservation outcomes, with a focus on role antioxidants. Cryopreservation-induced alterations proteins RNA transcripts critical including motility, capacitation, fertilization, embryo development, are discussed. Proteomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic advancements have provided valuable insights into these mechanisms, offering potential biomarkers predicting freezability enhancing strategies. The objective of the present study was to evaluate protective effects nanoemulsion thyme ( Thymus vulgaris ) essential oil (EO) during liquid state preservation ram semen. It remains a problem to efficiently improve the boar sperm quality of liquid storage due reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation. To reduce effects ROS on sperm, in this study, 1 μg/mL zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) was added into extender semen during at 4°C and 17°C for 7 days. The finding revealed that motility, viability, plasma membrane integrity (PMI) acrosome significantly increased when compared with control group (P ˂ 0.05) Additionally, ZnO NPs levels adenosine triphosphate (ATP), mitochondrial potential (MMP), antioxidation abilities sperm. Moreover, could protect from oxidative stress (OS) by inhibiting ROS-induced decrease phosphorylation PKA substrates (P-PKAs).
