The use of antibiotics in animal production raises great public safety concerns; therefore, there is an urgent need for the development substitutes antibiotics. In recent decades, plant-derived feed additives have been widely investigated as antibiotic alternatives health and because they exert multiple biological functions are less likely to induce resistance development. This review summarizes research history classification phytogenic their main functions, potential modes action, influencing factors, negative effects. Further, we highlight challenges developing sustainable, safe, affordable livestock production.

For decades now, sperm cryopreservation has been a pillar of assisted reproduction in animals as well humans. Nevertheless, the success varies across species, seasons, and latitudes even within same individual. With dawn progressive analytical techniques field genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, new options for more accurate semen quality assessment have become available. This review summarizes currently available information on specific molecular characteristics spermatozoa that could predict their cryotolerance before freezing process. Understanding changes biology result exposure to low temperatures may contribute development implementation appropriate measures assure high post-thaw quality. Furthermore, an early prediction or cryosensitivity lead establishment customized protocols interconnecting adequate processing procedures, techniques, cryosupplements are most feasible individual needs ejaculate.

Cryopreservation poses significant challenges to the preservation of sperm integrity and function, particularly in small ruminants where cryodamage is pronounced. This review explores molecular mechanisms underlying strategies for improving cryopreservation outcomes, with a focus on role antioxidants. Cryopreservation-induced alterations proteins RNA transcripts critical including motility, capacitation, fertilization, embryo development, are discussed. Proteomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic advancements have provided valuable insights into these mechanisms, offering potential biomarkers predicting freezability enhancing strategies. Combining technologies such as mass spectrometry flow cytometry allows comprehensive understanding cellular changes induced by freezing–thawing process. However, remain optimizing cryoprotectant formulations antioxidant supplementation improve post-thaw fertility. Further research needed explore wider range novel cryoprotectants, antioxidants, media, well validate their efficacy viability function. Additionally, investigations effects epigenetic factors ruminant species warranted advance our preservation. Overall, this highlights importance antioxidants mitigating underscores need continued refine protocols reproductive outcomes ruminants.

The objective of the present study was to evaluate protective effects nanoemulsion thyme ( Thymus vulgaris ) essential oil (EO) during liquid state preservation ram semen. Storage media were prepared: one containing (Th), another with its form (NTh), and a control sample without (Dovx). quality semen diluted in prepared after at 4°C 15°C examined by measuring two parameters indicative quality: motility progressivity refer ability sperm cells move actively efficiently, which is crucial for successful fertilization. results showed decrease mobility all mediums, but EO slight decreases compared medium (p<0.05). On other hand, identified negative impact nanoemulsions on catalase concentrations, potentially leading inhibition In addition, significantly (p<0,05) decreased malondialdehyde concentration, increased total protein glucose contents, lactate dehydrogenase activity. A significant calcium content observed (p < 0.05). , combined nanotechnology encapsulation as delivery method (nanoemulsion), demonstrated notable effective role enhancing ovine

It remains a problem to efficiently improve the boar sperm quality of liquid storage due reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation. To reduce effects ROS on sperm, in this study, 1 μg/mL zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) was added into extender semen during at 4°C and 17°C for 7 days. The finding revealed that motility, viability, plasma membrane integrity (PMI) acrosome significantly increased when compared with control group (P ˂ 0.05) Additionally, ZnO NPs levels adenosine triphosphate (ATP), mitochondrial potential (MMP), antioxidation abilities sperm. Moreover, could protect from oxidative stress (OS) by inhibiting ROS-induced decrease phosphorylation PKA substrates (P-PKAs). Together, current results suggest be used as novel antioxidant agent preservation, which is helpful improving application assisted reproductive technology domestic animals.

The rapid emergence of antibacterial resistance requires alternatives to antibiotics be found, including for semen preservation. One the possible would use plant-based substances with known antimicrobial effects. objective this study was test effect pomegranate powder, ginger, and curcumin extract in two concentrations on bull microbiota after exposure <2 h 24 h. An additional aim evaluate these sperm quality parameters. bacterial count low from beginning; however, a reduction present all tested compared control. A control samples also observed time. Curcumin at concentration 5%, reduced by 32% only substance that had slight positive kinematics. other were associated decline kinematics viability. Neither deleterious viability parameters measured flow cytometry. results indicate 5% can reduce does not have negative influence quality.

Abstract Bacterial colonization of male reproductive tissues, cells, and fluids, the subsequent impact bacteria on sperm architecture, activity, fertilizing potential, has recently gained increased attention from medical scientific community. Current evidence strongly emphasizes fact that presence in semen may have dire consequences resulting fertility. Nevertheless, molecular basis underlying bacteriospermia-associated suboptimal quality is sophisticated, multifactorial, still needs further understanding. adhesion agglutination immobilization represent most direct pathway sperm–bacterial interactions. Furthermore, release bacterial toxins leukocytic infiltration, associated with a massive outburst reactive oxygen species, been repeatedly dysfunction bacteria-infested semen. This review serves as summary present knowledge subfertility. we strived to outline currently available methods for assessing profiles promising strategies prevention and/or management bacteriospermia practice.

The cryopreservation of spermatozoa is an important reproductive technology for the preservation fertility in man and animals. Since serendipitous discovery glycerol as effective cryoprotectant 1947, sperm has undergone many changes terms freezing methods employed, rates at which samples are frozen thawed, media used to preserve functionality DNA integrity. An extensive literature survey been conducted addressing cryoprotectants employed both animal human semen protocols utilised. results indicate that remains dominant cryoprotective agent, usually incorporated into a balanced salt solution containing energy substrates, buffers, osmolytes protein form serum albumin (human) or skimmed milk (animal). Realisation some damage observed cryostored cells involves generation reactive oxygen species during thawing process, prompted studies assess relative merits incorporating antioxidants media. However, absence systematic comparisons, there currently no consensus antioxidant combination might be most effective. Utilising our fundamental understanding cryodamage optimise each will future.
