Immersive
virtual

Personalized
training

engineering

Driven
by
growing
number
medical
imaging
modalities,
research
community
has
developed
methods
achieved
functionality
breakthroughs.
However,
with
overwhelming
pool
information
in
literature,
it
become
increasingly
challenging
for
researchers
to
extract
context-relevant
specific
applications,
especially
when
widely
used
exist
a
variety
versions
optimized
their
respective
application
domains.
By
being
further
equipped
sophisticated
three-dimensional
(3D)
visualization
digital
reality
technology,
experts
could
enhance
performance
capabilities
IGS
multiple
folds.
The
goal
this
narrative
review
is
organize
key
components
aspects
processing
new
perspective
insights.
literature
search
was
conducted
using
mainstream
academic
engines
combination
keywords
relevant
field
up
until
mid-2022.
This
survey
systemically
summarizes
basic,
mainstream,
state-of-the-art
as
well
how
technology
like
augmented/mixed/virtual
(AR/MR/VR)
are
enhancing
IGS.
Further,
we
hope
that
will
shed
some
light
on
future

challenges
