This study examined the performances of three groups participants in interpreting metaphors different conditions: congruent gesture-prime conditions, opposite and no-prime conditions. In each metaphor was preceded by gestural representation schema. The results showed that conditions had best performance metaphors, while worst performance. How emotions are metaphorically embodied: measuring hand and head action strengths of typical emotional states

This study measured hand and head action strengths of eight typical emotional states using an authentic but implicit emotion elicitation task. Participants listened to then retold five stories in which were experienced by the narrators. The number gestures that occur naturally while experiencing state was used as index determine strength state. Results showed a larger than gestures, suggesting are stronger their strengths. These findings consistent with data extracted from Lancaster Sensorimotor Norms (LSN), although two sets gathered completely different experimental conditions languages. A Study of the Use of Iconic and Metaphoric Gestures with Motion-Based, Static Space-Based, Static Object-Based, and Static Event-Based Statements

In this article, we extend our previously suggested categorization of metaphors to literal statements, and categorize metaphorical statements into four pairs corresponding statements: (1) motion-based metaphorical/literal statements; (2) static space-based (3) object-based (4) event-based statements. Then, report a study that investigated the use metaphoric iconic gestures with these categories during retelling set stories by group thirty participants. The participants listened five audio short stories. Each story contained one statement each category category. Gestural Embodiment of Intensifiers in Iconic, Metaphoric, and Beat Gestures

This study aimed to examine the gestural embodiment of intensifiers in iconic and metaphoric gestures when these words are used with literal statements. Non-Verbal Interaction and Students’ Visual Engagement in Mathematics and English classes

Understanding perceptual change as a movement in literal and metaphorical sentences

Results of the studies on way language and body coordinate in communication (through gesture) have significant implications for language, education, cognitive studies. However, there is a lack convenient research this area analyzing perceptual changes within individuals. To fill gap, we investigated embodied realizations literal sentences representing metaphorical describing phenomena terms changes.
